Lourdes Oh So Close

On Monday the night the Lourdes Gray Wolves women's basketball team to the court in the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter as they hosted the Warriors of Rochester College. Gray Wolves fall to the Warriors 64-59.

The Gray Wolves would play with fire in the first half as they seemed to be in sync on both ends of the court. The downfall in the first half for the Gray Wolves would have a shooting percentage at a lowly 21% from the floor. The Gray Wolves did shoot 80% from the free throw line though.

Lauren Tilden would lead the Gray Wolves with 11 points while newcomer Tiffani Blackman and Tarynn Hampton would each have four points.

For the Warriors they would shoot 50% from the floor while being led by 12 points from Jazzmone Russell with 12 points. Ke'aikala Ke'ala and Rayenne Kaiser would each chip in five points.

Each team would commit 14 turnovers in the half and Lourdes would out rebound the Warriors 22-14. Each team had nine fouls in the half as well.

The second half would be full of intrigue for the Gray Wolves as they would battle their way back into the ballgame and even took the lead for a moment at 36 to 35 with 13:20 remiaing in regulation. The lead wouldn't last long though as Rochester would score immediately on a two free throws following a Lourdes Bench Technical Foul following a controversial call on Kelsey Warren.

Lourdes would never regain the lead again as Rochester would hold until the end to win 64-59 sending Lourdes to their 14th straight loss. Free throws would be the downfall as Lourdes would only connect on 3 of 11 in the second half and would shoot only 52% for the game. Lourdes shot 30% from the floor for the game and was led in scoring by Lauren Tilden with 23 points .

Next up for the Gray Wolves is Siena Heights on Wednesday at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter at 7:30pm.
