On Wednesday night the Lourdes Gray Wolves looked to stop a 14 game losing skid as they hosted the Saints of Siena Heights University at the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter. The Gray Wolves would fall to the Saints 83-59.
The Gray Wolves started out tough taking a 5-1 lead in the half behind a three pointer by
Lauren Tilden. The lead wouldn't last long as the Saints fought back into the lead at 23-13 with 9 minutes remaining in the half. The Gray Wolves would battle the last 9 minutes and keep it relatively close at around a nine point deficit until the Saints press defense would lock down Lourdes and cause multiple turnovers and build a 44-29 halftime lead.
The Gray Wolves would shoot 37% from the floor in the half on 11 of 30 shooting. Lourdes would go 4 of 6 from the 3 pt. line and 3 of 5 from the charity stripe.
The Saints would shoot 50% from the field on 15 of 30 shooting and make 3 of 7 three point attempts. Siena Heights would make 11 of 18 free throw attempts.
Lourdes would be led by
Lauren Tilden with nine points and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. For the Saints they would be led Raina Chambers with 11 points and nine points from Amanda Duke.
The second half would start out a lot like the end of the first half with relentless pressure that seemed to stymie the Gray Wolves as they found themselves down by 19 at 50-31 before a Lourdes timeout with 16 minutes remaining. The Gray Wolves would find themselves in a big hole trailing 75-43 with 5:30 remaining and never be able to recover as they would lose the game 83-59.
Lauren Tilden would score a team high 20 points for the Gray Wolves and
Tarynn Hampton would score 12 points.
With the loss the Gray Wolves fall to 4-19 overall and 0-12 in WHAC play.
Next up for Lourdes will be Cornerstone University on Feb. 1
st at 5:30pm at the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter.
