Gray Wolves Winning Streak Comes To End

The Lourdes University men's basketball team hosted the Golden Eagles of Concordia University in a battle for the upper echelon of the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Gray Wolves were looking to keep their winning streak alive from six to seven and a chance to move into second place in the WHAC. The Gray WOlves would fall 66-51.

The first half would be a slugfest between these two teams sitting near the top of the WHAC. Lourdes would lead 13-12 midway through the first half. The Eagles would take their first lead of the game at 13-14 with 7:30 remaining in the half before Jake Dupree would give the Gray Wolves the lead back with two foul shots to make it 15-14. The Golden Eagles would take their biggest lead of the half at four points with a three pointer at 15-19. The Gray Wolves offense would stall out near the end of the half until a last second put back on a missed three point attempt by John Willhite. The Golden Eagles would lead at half 21-24.

John Willhite and Corey Harvey each had six points to lead the Gray Wolves at the break. Dan Possehl would lead Cornerstone at the break with eight points.

Lourdes would shoot 42% from the floor and Cornerstone at 36%.

The second half would go all the Golden Eagles way as they would build an 11 point lead at 48-37 at the midway point of the half. The Gray Wolves would consistently shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and poor shooting including many airballs.

The Gray Wolves would play tough down the stretch but come up short in the end losing 66-51. The Gray Wolves fell to 13-11 overall and 7-6 overall.
