On Wednesday evening the Lourdes University women's basketball team hosted the Cornerstone Golden Eagles at the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter. The Gray Wolves would lose the game 72-64 extending their losing streak to 16 games.
The Lourdes Gray Wolves would hang tough in the first 10 minutes of the half against the #3 Cornerstone University Golden Eagles. The Gray Wolves would battle inside but once again turnovers would hurt them as they committed 10 costly ones that led to break away easy baskets for the Golden Eagles. Lourdes would trail at the halftime break by 17 points.
Tarynn Hampton would lead the Lourdes Gray Wolves with eight points at the break.
Lauren Tilden would add six points.
For the Golden Eagles they would be paced by two players in double figures including 15 points from Samantha Flietstra and 13 points from Ashley Moon.
The Gray Wolves would use their size down low to outrebound the Golden Eagles 23-17. Lourdes would shoot 29% from the floor while Cornerstone shot 54%.
The second half would start out well for the Gray Wolves as they would quickly chip into the lead held by Cornerstone as they trimmed it down to four points at the 13 minute mark at 45-49. The chipping away wouldn't last long though as Cornerstone would find their stride pushing the lead back to 13 points at 4:30minute mark.
The Gray Wolves would fight valiantly to the very end but would drop their 16
th game in a row losing 72-64.
Lourdes leading scorer would be
Tarynn Hampton with 16 points and Tiffani Blackman with 15.
The Gray Wolves would shoot 37% from the floor compared to Cornerstone's 43%.
