Gray Wolves Drop Heartbreaker

Corey Harvey finishes a layup
The Lourdes University men's basketball team was playing for sole possession of fourth place in the WHAC standings on Wednesday night as they hosted the Warriors of Indiana Tech. The Warriors would win the game 53-48.

DEFENSE! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! was the only words to describe this battle between these two teams in the first half. Each bucket was more valuable and hard earned as the halftime score would show at 23-22 Lourdes.
The Gray Wolves were led at the break in scoring by Corey Harvey with 13 points. The Warriors were led by 8 points from Jordan Hickman.

The Gray Wolves shot 36% from the floor and were just 1 of 6 from three point line. The Warriors shot 33% from the field and 3 of 5 from the three point area.

The inside game was key to the Gray Wolves having the lead as Marcus Outlaw and Corey Harvey both banged the boards and kept second chance points away from the Warriors. Lourdes led the rebound margin at 21 to 14.
The second half would start out slow for Lourdes as the Warriors would open the half with a five point run before Lourdes would get on the board more than three minutes into the half.  Lourdes would grab a one point advantage midway through the half at 33-32. Lourdes would grab its biggest lead at 8 points courtesy of good free throw shooting by Corey Harvey after a pair of technical's on Tech.

The Warriors would cut back the advantage to only two for Lourdes at 43-41 with 5:49 remaining in regulation behind stingy defense and poor shooting by the Gray Wolves. With 4:30 remaining the Warriors would tie it up at 43 apiece.  Lourdes would take a timeout with 2:15 min remaining trailing 49-47 to Tech.

The last two minutes would become tighter as the Warriors would connect on a pair of free throws to lead 51-47.

The Warriors would hold on for the victory winning 53-48.

The loss drops Lourdes to 13-13 overall and 7-8 in WHAC play.
