Heather Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.) shot a school record round of 79 on Tuesday afternoon helping to lead Lourdes University to a team total of 349, also a new school mark, as the Gray Wolves finished in a tie for fourth place at WHAC Jamboree #1 held at StoneWater Country Club in Caledonia, Mich.
Steiner won the event by one stroke over Aquinas' Alicia Flood and Indiana Tech's Megan Garrison. The sophomore transfer from the University of Findlay became the first Gray Wolf ever on the women's side to break 80 in competition, doing so over the 5,950-yard, par-71 layout to better teammate
Brooke Darah's (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) previous school mark of 81set in each of the last two years. Darah finished as the Gray Wolves second best finisher on Tuesday, carding an 86, to finish tied for 11
th overall.
Lindsay Lehman (Bowling Green, Ohio/Otsego H.S.) turned in a 91, one stroke off of her collegiate best round while
Kallie Breyfogle (Holland, Ohio/Southview H.S.) fired a 93 to help Lourdes better the school mark as a team by 16 strokes. The Gray Wolves previous best round of 365 came on Sept. 19, 2011 in WHAC Jamboree #2 last season in Adrian, Mich.
Roberta Craider (Brecksville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) added a 100 for Lourdes while
Haley Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.), making her collegiate debut, posted 121.
Indiana Tech won Tuesday's event as a team by six strokes over Aquinas, shooting 329. Madonna was third, five strokes ahead of the Gray Wolves. Lourdes tied Davenport for fourth place.
Lourdes will return to the course on Friday afternoon with a dual match against Indiana-East. The Gray Wolves will begin play at noon at Winchester Golf Course in Winchester, Ind.
