Box Score
Jake DuPree (Toledo, Ohio/Whiteford H.S.) scored seven of his team-high 23 points in overtime on Wednesday evening as 25th-ranked Lourdes scored a 92-88 victory over Point Park at the Merillat Sport Center in Adrian, Mich.

With the victory, Lourdes continues its best start in school history with a 9-2 record, having won three straight games and seven of their last eight overall.

Point Park scored first in the overtime before DuPree tallied one of his two three-pointers in the extra session to put the Gray Wolves on top by one.  His second triple with 2:19 left made it an 84-80 Lourdes advantage and the Gray Wolves would not trail again the rest of the game.  Lourdes made 6-of-8 free throws in the extra session, all in the final 37 seconds to secure the victory.

Trailing 13-12 early, Lourdes went on a 19-6 run over six minutes to build a 31-19 lead.  The advantage grew to as many as 16 in the first half, 40-24, before a 10-4 spurt by the Pioneers closed the gap to within 10, 46-36, at the break.  The Gray Wolves shot 53.8% in the opening stanza, paced by 12 points from Elvin Butler (Akron, Ohio/East H.S.).  Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) added 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and grabbed four of Lourdes eight offensive rebounds in the stanza.

Point Park came out of the locker room with a 13-5 run over the first three minutes to pull within two, 51-49, before Lourdes pushed the lead back to seven.  Another Pioneer run, this one a 17-2 spurt in just over five minutes, gave Point an eight-point lead, 66-58, with 8:30 to play in regulation.

The Pioneers lead remained eight with under seven minutes to play when Lourdes scored nine of the next 11 points to close within one at the 4:23 mark.  A DuPree lay-up with 2:39 left put the Gray Wolves on top 74-73.  Neither team would score over the next two minutes until Isiah Boddie (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne H.S.) hit two free throws with 24 seconds left to increase the advantage to three.  Point Park's Alan Heter tied the game with a triple for the left corner though with 10 seconds remaining to force overtime as the Gray Wolves' final effort missed the mark.

Steinmetz finished with a double-double, 16 points and 14 boards, including eight on the offensive end, while making 8-of-11 shots from the floor for the Gray Wolves.  Butler tallied 15 points total on the night while Jerome Talton (East Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw H.S.) chipped in 11 points, making all five of his free throw attempts.

Gabe McNeal led Point Park (6-6) with 28 points and seven assists while Nick Brown added 26 points.  Heter finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, as all three players played all 45 minutes for the Pioneers.

Lourdes (9-2) will return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Indiana Tech.  Tip-off between the co-leaders in the conference is set for 3 p.m. at the Schaefer Center Gymnasium.
