Lourdes Begins Road Trip with Win at MSOE

Lourdes University's men's volleyball team began its two-day road trip to Milwaukee, Wis. with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday evening at the Kern Center.
 
The Gray Wolves hit .393 for the match and outdug the Raiders 26-19 on the evening in the non-conference contest.
 
“We played well tonight,” head coach Greg Reitz said of the win.  “We served better than we have been and distributed the ball very well.  We were able to serve and pass well enough to get the victory.”
 
Lourdes had to rally in the opening set to take the lead.  Trailing 17-14, the Gray Wolves closed the set on an 11-3 run keyed by three kills from Trevor Lund (Laguna Hills, Calif./Laguna Hills H.S.).  Set two saw the Gray Wolves utilize a 7-0 run midway through to take a 14-7 lead to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
 
In the final set, the Raiders held a 13-12 advantage before Lourdes scored 13 of the final 15 points of the match.  Zander Epps (San Diego, Calif./Eastlake H.S.) served six straight points as the Gray Wolves cruised to the victory.
 
Nick DiMarco (Torrance, Calif./South Torrance H.S.) led Lourdes with 14 kills, hitting .407 on the evening, while Lund added 10 more kills.  Oliver Cizmazia(Bratislava, Slovakia/Metodova H.S.) handed out 32 assists while recording four kills in five attempts.  Brad Miller (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) led the Gray Wolves with seven digs.
 
“Nick and Trevor put up some strong numbers and our middles had a very efficient night,” Reitz added.  “Defensively we played well for an all-around solid match.”
 
Jack Geary and David Johnson led Milwaukee School of Engineering (1-3), a NCAA Division III team, with nine kills while John Cote had 10 digs.
 
Lourdes (2-3) will return to the floor on Saturday afternoon, traveling to fellow MAMVIC East conference foe #6 Cardinal Stritch.  First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m. EST.
