#4 Davenport Too Much for Lourdes Saturday

Fourth-ranked Davenport used a 26-2 run in the first half to take control of the game early and defeated Lourdes 75-41 at Tam-o-Shanter in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Panthers forced 22 first half turnovers from the Gray Wolves which they converted into 24 points and led by 20 or more points for the final 31 minutes of the contest.
 
Lourdes scored the opening basket of the game before Davenport went on the 26-2 run, holding the Gray Wolves to just two field goal attempts over the first eight minutes of the game.  The Gray Wolves went 12 minutes without a basket from the floor before Tiffany Scott's (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Sylvania Southview H.S.) three-pointer made it a 28-9 game at the 7:37 mark.  Davenport then took a 46-17 lead into the locker room.
 
The Panthers scored the first eight points of the second half and led by as many as 43, 65-22, at the 11:39 mark before the Gray Wolves cut into the deficit late in the contest.
 
Scott led Lourdes with 14 points while Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Tiffani Blackman (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) added six points as the Gray Wolves shot just 31.8% (14-of-44) from the floor on the afternoon.  Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) grabbed nine boards as Lourdes trailed in the rebounding battle just 44-41.
 
Alex Law led Davenport (18-1, 11-1 WHAC) with 16 points off of the bench while Brittany Jonson added 14 points.  The Panthers shot 35.2% from the floor but made 12-of-40 three-point attempts.  They committed just 10 turnovers on the afternoon. 
 
Lourdes (4-15, 2-10) will remain home on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Madonna at Tam-o-Shanter.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and will be carried live on BCSN.
