Lourdes Fall Short on the Road at Concordia

Tiffani Blackman (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) scored 18 points but Lourdes could not overcome 30.6% shooting from the floor on Wednesday evening, falling on the road to Concordia (Mich.) 68-59 at Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.
 
The Gray Wolves grabbed 21 offensive rebounds but tallied just 14 second chance points on the evening.
 
Lourdes led 19-18 with 4:06 to play in the first half before the Cardinals went on a 12-5 spurt to end the stanza with a six-point, 30-24 lead.
 
Concordia extended the run to 16-5 with the first two baskets of the second half before the Gray Wolves began to chip away at the deficit.  A 17-6 run by Lourdes, capped by a three-point play from Jessica Durr (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on top 41-40 with 12:26 to play.
 
An 11-2 run by the Cardinals followed, giving the hosts an eight-point advantage with under eight minutes to play.  After the lead grew to nine, Lourdes closed to within four in the final minute, but Concordia made seven free throws in the final 37 seconds to secure the victory.
 
Tiffany Scott (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Sylvania Southview H.S.) scored 11 points while Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) chipped in 10 more to give the Gray Wolves three players in double figures.  Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for Lourdes.
 
Brooke Adams led Concordia (11-12, 8-7 WHAC) with 27 points and 10 rebounds while Mariah Gordon added 13 points.  Becca Sabol (12 points) and Tiffany Karger (11 points) also tallied double figures for the Cardinals.
 
Lourdes (5-17, 3-12) will return home to Tam-o-Shanter on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Indiana Tech.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
