Lourdes Falls on the Road at Northwestern Ohio

Lourdes had four players tally double figures on Wednesday evening, but the Gray Wolves could not pull off a road Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory, falling to Northwestern Ohio 73-64 at Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio.
 
Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) led the way for the Gray Wolves with 16 points while pulling down nine rebounds.  The senior made 8-of-10 from the free throw line.  Tiffany Scott (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Sylvania Southview H.S.) and Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) each added 13 points while Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) chipped in 10 points.
 
Lourdes built its largest lead of the game, five, midway through the first half.  A Courtney Slepko (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) triple followed by a pair of Hampton free throws put the Gray Wolves on top 19-14 at the 8:52 mark.  Lourdes would go scoreless for the next four minutes though as the Racers scored six straight points to take the lead.  Northwestern Ohio ended the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 29-23 lead into the locker room.
 
The Gray Wolves started strong out of the locker room, tying the game at 35 three minutes into the second half.  A 13-3 run by the Racers gave the hosts their largest lead of the game though, 53-42, with 10 minutes to play in the game.  Lourdes fought back one more time, closing to within three, after a pair of Tilden free throws at the 5:30 mark.  The Gray Wolves would not get any closer the rest of the way however.
 
After shooting just 29.2% from the floor in the first half, the Gray Wolves connected at over 40% over the final 20 minutes. 
 
Madison Coldren led all scorers with 19 points while adding 13 rebounds for Northwestern Ohio (9-8, 6-3 WHAC) while Sammi Dervisevic added 14 points.  Lauren Hopfner chipped in 12 points for the Racers.  Northwestern Ohio outrebounded Lourdes 46-33, including a 21-10 advantage on the offensive glass.
 
Lourdes (4-12, 2-7) will return home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
