Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After three straight games away from Tam-o-Shanter, Lourdes returns home for a pair of contests this week.  The Gray Wolves will face Kuyper in non-conference play on Tuesday evening before entertaining Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Karen McConnell has a 9-24 (.273) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 289-271 (.516) record in her 22nd season.  She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Kuyper are meeting on the hardwood in women's basketball for the first time.  Lourdes and Michigan-Dearborn have played six times previously, with the two schools each winning three times.  The Gray Wolves have won the last three meetings between the two teams, including both last season.  Lourdes was a 64-55 winner at Tam-o-Shanter and posted a 64-60 overtime triumph in Dearborn, Mich.  The Gray Wolves are 2-1 against the Wolverines all-time at Tam-o-Shanter.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the week on Monday night with a 70-66 overtime triumph at Cincinnati Christian.  Lauren Tilden led four Lourdes players in double figures with 16 points.  Emily Orsini tallied 14 points and Molea Thompson chipped in 12 for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon at Mount Vernon Nazarene 88-56.  Tilden was the lone Gray Wolf to tally double figures, scoring 16 points in the setback.

Scouting Kuyper: The Cougars opened their season last weekend hosting the Cougar Classic and split a pair of games.  Kuyper fell 81-50 in the season opener to Silver Lake on Friday before rebounding for a 78-14 win over Crossroads on Saturday.  Paulina Reece and Mikeal Wilder each scored 18 points in the win for Kuyper.  The Cougars will play their first road game of the season when they travel to Lourdes.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines dropped a narrow two-point decision at Roosevelt last Wednesday after picking up their first win of the year at home against Spring Arbor.  Michigan-Dearborn hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday before heading to Lourdes.  Jalissa Williams leads the way for the Wolverines averaging 23.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.  Courtney Teets adds 14.5 points per contest while Andrea Collins is scoring 14.0 point per game.

Lourdes in Conference Openers: The Gray Wolves are 1-2 all-time in WHAC openers after falling to Lawrence Tech 67-62 in last season's first conference tilt.  Lourdes defeated Lawrence Tech in 2012 while falling to Concordia (Mich.) to open the 2011-2012 season in a contest that doubled as the Gray Wolves first game ever in program history.

Quite a Start to the Season: Lourdes 3-1 mark to the 2014-2015 season is the program's best start in history.  Last year Lourdes started the season 2-1 through three games before dropping their next two contests.  Prior to this season, the earliest the Gray Wolves won their third game of the year was in game number six, doing so each of the last two seasons.

Balancing Out the Scoring: Lourdes has four players averaging in double figures through the first four games of the season.  Lauren Tilden leads the way tallying 17.5 points per night.  Emily Orsini has tallied 12.3 points per game while Molea Thompson has added 11.0 points per contest.  Jesse Fidler has dropped in 10.8 points per contest for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes has had four players finish in double figures in each of the first three games this season before Tilden was the lone double figure scorer at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Making Shots: Lourdes is shooting 48.3% from the floor as a team through the first four games of the season, a rate that ranks 11th in all of NAIA Division II.  Emily Orsini leads four players (minimum 15 shot attempts) shooting over 50% on the year, connecting at a 55.3% clip.  The Gray Wolves are also shooting 39.5% from three-point range on the year, led by Lauren Tilden's 12 triples.  The team's three-point percentage is 16th best in the nation.

Lots of Minutes: Lauren Tilden played all but a few seconds over the first three games this season.  She finally got a bit of a breather by playing just 28 minutes on Saturday at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Lourdes Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn, and just behind Concordia (Mich.).  Davenport was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite for 2014-2015 after winning the conference title eight straight seasons.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Lauren Tilden and Emily Orsini.  Tilden is a two-time team captain, having also served in that role in 2012-2013, while Orsini is in her first season as a team captain.

This and That: Sara Pribonic made her varsity collegiate debut Saturday against Mount Vernon Nazarene ... 15 different players have already seen action for the Gray Wolves this year ... 13 of Jesse Fidler's 21 rebounds have come on the offensive end ... Fidler has registered 10 steals in four games.
