Game #9: Tuesday, November 25, 6 p.m. EST
at Marygrove (1-6, 0-3 WHAC)
Northwest Activities Center - Detroit, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up its three-game road trip on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Detroit, Mich. to battle Marygrove in a matchup of two schools each looking for their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory of the season.  Following the game, Lourdes will have eight days off for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Karen McConnell has a 10-27 (.270) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 290-274 (.514) record in her 22nd season.  She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 4-1 all-time against Marygrove after sweeping the season series against the Mustangs last season.  Lourdes was a 66-37 victor at home while winning 91-73 on the road in 2013-2014.  Marygrove's lone win in the series came in the first meeting, a 75-68 triumph on Nov. 2, 2011.  Lourdes holds a 2-1 series edge in Detroit.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the week on Wednesday night shooting just 27.1% from the floor in a 66-40 loss on the road against 24th-ranked Cornerstone.  Lourdes fell behind 35-17 at the break and could not recover over the final 20 minutes.  Jessica Durr led Lourdes with 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss.  On Saturday afternoon Lawrence Tech shot 57.4% from the field on the way to defeating the Gray Wolves 84-65 in Southfield, Mich.  Lourdes trailed by 18 points and halftime before playing even with the Blue Devils in the second half.  Molea Thompson led Lourdes with 13 points while Emily Orsini added 12 and Lauren Tilden chipped in 11 points.

Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs are looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they face Lourdes after dropping a 75-58 contest to Aquinas at home on Saturday.  Marygrove defeated Kuyper 90-66 for its lone win this year.  Raeha Weaver leads Marygrove offensively tallying 16.2 points per game.  She is shooting 81.6% from the free throw line.  Elisha Major adds 11.5 points per night while Micaiah King is grabbing a team-best 6.7 rebounds per night.  As a team Marygrove is shooting just 34.5% from the floor while the opposition is connecting at a 43.7% clip.  The Mustangs are holding opponents to just 28.7% from three-point range though, the 48th best mark in NAIA Division II.

Matching the Best Start to the Season: Lourdes 4-4 mark to the 2014-2015 season matches the program's best eight-game start in history.  Lourdes went 4-4 to open the 2011-2012 season as well.  The earliest the Gray Wolves have ever won their fifth game in a year was Jan. 5, 2013, the 17th game of the 2012-2013 season.  Lourdes is one win shy of matching the 2011-2012 season's entire victory total and just two wins away from equalling last year's total number of triumphs.

Shooting is Key...: Lourdes is 4-0 this season when shooting a better percentage from the floor than the opposition, but 0-4 when losing the shooting battle.  Lourdes is shooting 50% from the field in the wins while holding the opposition to 40% shooting.  In the losses, however, the Gray Wolves are connecting at just a 31.3% clip from the floor while opponents are making 50.2% of their overall shots.

... as is Rebounding: Lourdes is also 4-0 when outrebounding the opposition this season but 0-4 when they haven't crashed the boards as well.  In the wins Lourdes is outboarding its foes by 13.0 per night, but in the losses the Gray Wolves are being outrebounded by 10.5 caroms per night.

Nearing 1,000: Lauren Tilden is just three points shy of reaching the 1,000 point plateau for her career.  The senior would become just the second player in program history to reach this milestone, following Tarynn Hampton.  She scored 11 points on Saturday at Lawrence Tech to bring her total to 997 for her career.  Tilden is averaging a team-leading 14.5 points per game this season.

Sharing the Minutes: Lourdes has 10 different players averaging at least 10 minutes per game this season.  Only Lauren Tilden (35.5 mpg) is tallying more than 30 minutes per contest while Jesse Fidler (29.1 mgp) and Emily Orsini (28.1 mpg) are playing more than 21 minutes per night.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Molea Thompson leads the team with 29 assists (3.6 per game) during her freshman campaign.  She has posted a nearly 3:2 assist-to-turnover ratio this year as well, having committed just 20 miscues while running the point.

Lourdes Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn, and just behind Concordia (Mich.).  Davenport was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite for 2014-2015 after winning the conference title eight straight seasons.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Lauren Tilden and Emily Orsini.  Tilden is a two-time team captain, having also served in that role in 2012-2013, while Orsini is in her first season as a team captain.

This and That: As a team Lourdes ranks 19th nationally averaging 16.0 offensive rebounds per game ... the Gray Wolves are 31st in the country holding opponents to just 26.7% shooting from three-point range ... Lauren Tilden ranks 27th in NAIA Division II tallying 2.42 triples per contest ... Lourdes has used the same starting lineup of Tilden, Emily Orsini, Jesse Fidler, Molea Thompson, and Jessica Durr in all eight games.
