Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having won five of its last six games overall, Lourdes wraps up the month of November on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Detroit, Mich. to face Marygrove.  Lourdes looks to remain near the top of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings as the Gray Wolves enter the week just one game out of first place.

Head Coach Andre Smith: In his fifth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Andre Smith has a 72-61 (.541) record.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.  Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 4-2 all-time against Marygrove in a series that dates back to 2011 after the two schools split a pair of meetings last year.  The Gray Wolves posted a 75-60 victory at Tam-o-Shanter before dropping a 78-70 contest at Marygrove.  The Mustangs hold a 2-1 series advantage on their home floor though.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes battled 11th-ranked Cornerstone on Wednesday evening before dropping a 75-67 decision on the road.  The Gray Wolves were led by E.J. Blackwell who tallied 17 points while Zach Steinmetz added 16 more.  Blackwell then hit four free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining on Saturday afternoon to give the Gray Wolves a 52-48 road victory over Lawrence Tech.  Blackwell finished with 19 points while Steinmetz chipped in 13 more in the win.

Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs are still looking for their first victory of the season after dropping a 79-62 decision at home against Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.  Darryll Dixon leads the offense for Marygrove averaging 19.2 points per game while Diante Taylor adds 16.2 points per night.  JuJuan Armstrong has chipped in 13.8 points and a season-high 9.8 rebounds per game.  Kenneth Miller is the fourth Mustang to average double figures this season, posting 11.4 points per night.  Sirafino Davis has already blocked 11 shots pre night, averaging over two per game.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has averaged just 12.3 turnovers per game this season and ranks 14th nationally in turnover margin at plus 5.57 per game.  The Gray Wolves committed just 12 turnovers at Cornerstone and seven at Lawrence Tech last week.  Just once this season, a 41-point victory over Kuyper, did Lourdes commit more than 15 miscues in a contest.

Lots of Steals: Jake DuPree has already tallied 25 steals for the Gray Wolves this season.  His 3.57 swipes per contest rank fifth nationally in NAIA Division II.  He had four steals in each game last week and has 19 over his last four games.  DuPree has had at least two steals in every contest this year.

Steinmetz Doubles Up the Stats: Junior forward Zach Steinmetz has posted four double-doubles already this year.  For the season he is averaging 19.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, just shy of double-double status.  For his career Steinmetz has tallied 20 double-doubles in 38 games for the Gray Wolves.

Among the Nation's Top Defenses: Lourdes has given up just 52.4 points per game through the first seven contests this season.  Even though it is early in the season, the mark ranks second in NAIA Division II after the Gray Wolves finished in the top-five nationally in scoring defense each of the last three seasons.  Lourdes has given up more than 51 points in a game just twice this season, against Spring Arbor and Cornerstone, the two lone losses on the Gray Wolves' schedule.

More Defense: Lourdes has limited the opposition to just 37.2% shooting from the floor this season, the eighth best mark in the country.  Three opponents have failed to reach 50 against the Gray Wolves this year while Akron Wayne was limited to just 35 points.

Free Throws are Key: E.J. Blackwell was a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe in the victory over Lawrence Tech, including making four free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining to give Lourdes the win.  He finished the week 15-of-17 from the stripe and for the season leads the Gray Wolves connecting on 78.3% of his charity tosses.

Rebounds Equal Victories: Lourdes is a perfect 5-0 this season when outrebounding the opposition, but 0-2 when losing the battle of the boards.  For the season the Gray Wolves have tallied a +8.4 rebounding margin over their opponents.

Lourdes Tabbed Fourth in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in fourth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Madonna, and just behind Northwestern Ohio.  Davenport was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite for 2014-2015 after finishing runner-up last year while Cornerstone, last year's champion, was tabbed second.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Jake DuPree and Zach Steinmetz.  DuPree is a two-time team captain while Steinmetz is serving as a captain for the first time.

This and That: Zach Steinmetz is third in the nation grabbing 4.29 offensive rebounds per game and 19th in the country in total rebounding, pulling down 9.1 caroms per night ... Lourdes is grabbing 14.4 offensive rebounds per game, 13th most in the nation ... Eco Dunning made his varsity debut for the Gray Wolves at Lawrence Tech.
