Gray Wolves Fall to Second Straight Ranked Opponent

For the second time in four days Lourdes battled an opponent ranked in the top-25, but on Wednesday evening the Gray Wolves came up short against 15th-ranked Siena Heights, falling to the Saints 75-63 at Tam-o-Shanter.
 
Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) scored 16 points to lead the Gray Wolves while Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) added 15 more, making five three-pointers.  Tiffani Blackman (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) added 13 points.
 
Lourdes jumped on top during the first 10 minutes of the first half, building a 19-11 lead.  Siena Heights fought back with a 13-4 run, taking the lead 24-23, with 4:04 to play.  The Gray Wolves bounced back and had a 28-26 lead with just over two minutes to play before halftime before the Saints ended the stanza scoring the final eight points to take a 34-28 lead at the break.
 
Siena Heights continued its run to start the second half, extending the spurt to 18-2 and building the lead to 14, 44-30, five minutes into the second half.  The Saints increased the lead to 16 at the 12:06 mark before the Gray Wolves made one more run.  A 14-4 spurt capped by a three-pointer from Courtney Slepko (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) pulled Lourdes to within six, 56-50, at the 7:38 mark.  The Saints responded, pushing the lead back to 14 over the next four minutes to prevent any hopes of an upset though.
 
Lourdes shot 42.6% from the floor on the evening, including 7-of-16 (43.8%) from three-point range, but connected on just 10-of-20 from the free throw line.
 
Sierra Calhoun led Siena Heights (23-6, 16-5 WHAC) with 20 points while Morgan Warfield added 18 more.  Grace Howrigon tallied 17 points and handed out nine assists.  The Saints shot 56.1% from the floor on the evening.
 
Lourdes (6-22, 4-17) will close out the 2013-2014 season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Aquinas.  Tip-off is slated for noon at Owens Community College in Perrysburg.
