Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having won two straight games, Lourdes looks to take its winning ways on the road this week as the Gray Wolves travel to Michigan for a pair of contests. The Gray Wolves will travel to Siena Heights on Wednesday evening before heading to Marygrove on Saturday afternoon, looking to move up the league standings.
Head Coach Andre Smith: In his third season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach,
Andre Smith has a 65-54 (.546) record. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history. Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 5-1 all-time against Siena Heights dating back to Nov. 12, 2011 after the Gray Wolves swept the Saints in all three meetings the two schools played last season. The Gray Wolves hold a 2-1 series edge in games played in Adrian, Mich. Lourdes is 4-1 all-time against Marygrove dating back to Jan. 3, 2011 after the Gray Wolves downed the Mustangs earlier this year. The two schools have split their two previous meetings at Marygrove, with Lourdes posting a 61-39 victory there last year.
Earlier This Season: Lourdes shot 53.2% from the floor on the afternoon, and took control over the final 20 minutes after the game was tied at 33 at intermission, and defeated Marygrove 75-60 at Tam-o-Shanter on Jan. 4.
Zach Steinmetz led the Gray Wolves with 22 points and 15 rebounds while
Eric Worthey also tallied a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Daryll Dixon led Marygrove with 18 points as the Mustangs forced 25 Gray Wolf turnovers to stay in the game.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes rallied from a 11-point deficit with under 14 minutes to play, finishing on a 36-15 run to defeat Concordia (Mich.) on the road 66-56 on Wednesday evening.

Zach Steinmetz tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Jake DuPree also scored 14 points for Lourdes. On Saturday afternoon Lourdes watched Indiana Tech rally from 13 points down to tie the contest, but the Gray Wolves held on for a 64-56 victory. Steinmetz tallied 14 points and 19 boards while Worthey tallied 16 points in the win.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday with a 64-59 win at Lawrence Tech. Christian Covile leads Siena Heights averaging 17.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while Jamison Webster adds 12.5 points per night. As a team, the Saints are limiting teams to just 30.5% shooting from three-point range, eighth best in the nation.
Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs enter the week having lost three straight games following an 85-68 loss against Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday. Marygrove heads to Indiana Tech on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Darryll Dixon leads Marygrove averaging 18.1 points per game while Diante Taylor adds 16.4 points per night. Kenny Enoex ranks second in the nation with 63 total blocks this year, an average of 2.74 blocked shots per game.
Schedule Change: Lourdes regular season finale against Aquinas has been moved to Owens Community College in Perrysburg due to a scheduling conflict at Tam-o-Shanter. The game will also tip off one hour earlier than originally schedule, with the ball now being tossed into the air at 2 p.m.
DuPree Earns Academic All-District Accolades: Jake DuPree was named a First Team Academic All-District I selection for the second straight year as selected by CoSIDA. He was one of just five student-athletes total in the 22-state district to earn the honor. A business marketing major, he carries a 3.89 cumulative GPA.
Steinmetz Earns Second WHAC Honor: Zach Steinmetz was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second times this season this past week. He averaged 14 points and 15 rebounds per game in victories over Concordia (Mich.) and Indiana Tech, shooting 70.6% from the floor in the process.
Double Trouble: Zach Steinmetz notched two more double-doubles last week, giving him a total of 12 on the season, including eight over his last nine games. For the season he is averaging a double-double, tallying 13.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. His rebounding total ranks sixth in NAIA Division II.
Playing Defense: Lourdes ranks third in the nation allowing just 61.5 points per game. The Gray Wolves are holding the opposition to just 30.3% shooting from three-point range, sixth best in the country, and 41.4% shooting overall, a mark that ranks 12th in NAIA Division II. Lourdes crashes the glass as well, outrebounding teams by 7.1 boards per night, the 12th best mark in the nation.
Shooting is Key: Lourdes has not won a game this season in which the Gray Wolves have shot a lower percentage from the floor than their opponents.
Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season. Serving in the leadership role for 2013-2014 are
Elvin Butler and
Jake DuPree, both first time captains.
This and That: Lourdes is shooting 72.2% from the free throw line in WHAC play, up from 62.5% in non-league action ... the Gray Wolves have taken just 18 total three-point attempts over the last four games ... this week marks Lourdes final multi-game road trip of the regular season ... the Gray Wolves need two victories to assure themselves a winning record for the third straight season.
