Lourdes Suffers Road Loss at Siena Heights

Box Score
Lourdes committed 23 turnovers and shot just 34.1% from the floor on Thursday evening as the Gray Wolves suffered a 54-43 setback to Siena Heights at the Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.

The game was the make-up of Wednesday night's originally scheduled contest which was postponed due to snow.

Lourdes jumped on top early, leading 8-3 five minutes into the contest.  Siena Heights scored eight straight points to take the lead, and had the advantage by as many as seven in the first half.  The Gray Wolves scored the final seven points of the first half though, capped by a jumper from Ron Dukes (Saint Louis, Mo./North County Christian H.S.) to tie the game at 19 heading into the locker room.

A three-point play by Jake DuPree (Toledo, Ohio/Whiteford H.S.) put Lourdes in front 22-21 early in the second half, but that would be the final lead of the game for the Gray Wolves.  Siena Heights went on a 16-4 run over 10 minutes to build a double figure lead, 37-26.    Lourdes was unable to cut the deficit under eight the rest of the way, and a late 8-0 Saints run sealed the victory.

Dukes and DuPree each scored 14 points to pace Lourdes offensively while Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) just missed his ninth double-double in his last 10 games, finishing the night with eight points and 13 rebounds.  The Gray Wolves had just two assists in the game.

Christian Covile led Siena Heights (10-15, 6-11 WHAC) with 18 points while Edward Cold added 12 more for the Saints.

Lourdes (14-11, 9-8) will close out its road trip on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Detroit, Mich. to battle Marygrove.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center.
