Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes reaches the midway point of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schedule this week as the Gray Wolves continue to face nationally-ranked opponents. The Gray Wolves will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Wednesday to face #2 Davenport before hosting Madonna at Tam-o-Shanter on Saturday afternoon.
Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench
Karen McConnell has an 12-35 (.255) record. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 292-282 (.509) record in her 22nd season. She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Davenport is 6-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Jan. 4, 2012. Last season the Panthers posted a 96-61 win in Grand Rapids before defeating Lourdes 75-41 at Tam-o-Shanter. Davenport holds a 3-0 record all-time in games played in Grand Rapids. Madonna also holds a 6-0 mark all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to Jan. 11, 2012. The Crusaders were 74-66 victors in Livonia, Mich. last year before edging Lourdes 72-70 at Tam-o-Shanter. Madonna is 3-0 all-time at Tam-o-Shanter.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes jumped out to a 33-5 lead over Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday evening on the way to a 79-60 home victory.Â
Jessica Durr came off of the bench to score 22 points and grab 14 rebounds while
Emily Orsini added 17 points. On Saturday afternoon, the Gray Wolves suffered an 86-63 setback at home to #11 Siena Heights.Â

Erica Davis paced Lourdes with 10 points each.
Scouting Davenport: The Panthers remained unbeaten on the season following an 83-45 victory at Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday. Daina Grazulis leads Davenport in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. As a team the Panthers lead NAIA Division II allowing just 47.7 points per contest while outscoring the opposition by 34.1 points per night. Davenport is outrebounding the opposition by 12.9 boards per night while holding opponents to just 31.5% shooting from the floor, both third best in the country.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the week having won three straight games following an 81-66 victory at Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday. Madonna hosts Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday before traveling to Lourdes. Michele Hayes leads Madonna averaging 20.3 points per game, a mark that ranks 11th in NAIA Division II. Rachel Melcher leads the team in rebounding at 8.6 boards per game while also scoring 11.8 points per night. Lindsey Hernden (12.2 ppg) and Justice Dean (10.5 ppg) also are averaging double figures for the Crusaders.
Freshmen Stepping Up: In Saturday's loss to Siena Heights, 37 of Lourdes' 63 points (58.7%) came from freshmen. The team's top three scorers,
Niki Meyer,
Sara Pribonic, and
Erica Davis all tallied 10 points as rookies. In fact, Meyer and Pribonic doubled their season's scoring output in the game while Davis entered the contest with just 37 career points.
First Win Ever Versus Concordia: Lourdes had never defeated Concordia (Mich.) until last Wednesday's 79-60 victory over the Cardinals. In the previous six meetings, Concordia had defeated the Gray Wolves by an average of 24.7 points per game. Â
Tilden's Streak Ends: Lauren Tilden had made a three-point field goal in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season prior to being shutout on Saturday against Siena Heights. Tilden ranks fifth in all of NAIA Division II averaging 3.28 three-point field goals per game this season. Â
Durr Has Career Night: Jessica Durr scored a career-high 22 points last Wednesday in the victory over Concordia (Mich.). She was 11-for-18 from the floor coming off of the bench, and also grabbed 14 rebounds, two shy of her career best. The double-double marked the senior's third this season.
Facing Ranked Opponents: Lourdes will be facing its third ranked opponent of the season, and second straight, on Wednesday when the Gray Wolves travel to Davenport. Earlier this season Lourdes fell 66-40 at 24th-ranked Cornerstone before falling on Saturday 86-63 to Siena Heights. Lourdes is 1-19 all-time against top-25 opponents. All six meetings for Lourdes against Davenport has come when the Panthers were ranked in the top-10.
Free Throw Woes: Lourdes has struggled from the free throw line all season, shooting just 60.1% from the charity stripe. Only three times have the Gray Wolves shot better than 67% from the line in a game.Â
Lauren Tilden is the lone Gray Wolf (with more than four attempts) shooting better than 70% from the line individually, connecting at a 73.7% clip.
Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season. Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are
Lauren Tilden and
Emily Orsini. Tilden is a two-time team captain, having also served in that role in 2012-2013, while Orsini is in her first season as a team captain.
