Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having snapped its losing streak last Saturday afternoon, Lourdes looks to move into the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on a positive note with a pair of games this week.  The Gray Wolves will travel to nationally-ranked Davenport on Wednesday evening to conclude round one of WHAC play before hosting Madonna on Saturday afternoon.

Head Coach Andre Smith: In his fifth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Andre Smith has a 78-67 (.538) record.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.  Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.

Series Notes: Davenport holds a 6-2 advantage all-time against Lourdes in a series dating back to Jan. 4, 2012 but the Gray Wolves have won two of the last three meetings against the Panthers.  Last year, Lourdes defeated Davenport 59-55 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and 75-71 at Tam-o-Shanter in league play.  The Panthers won a non-conference contest 58-49 in Chicago.  Davenport holds a 3-1 advantage in Grand Rapids.  Lourdes holds a 6-5 series edge against Madonna dating back to Nov. 6, 2010.  The Gray Wolves posted a 63-61 win over the Crusaders in Livonia, Mich. earlier this season.  The series is tied 2-2 at Tam-o-Shanter.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Zach Steinmetz was the lone Gray Wolf to tally double figures last Wednesday as Lourdes fell at home 56-48 to Concordia (Mich.).  On Saturday, Jake DuPree tallied 22 points to lead the way and Lourdes held Siena Heights to just 31.3% shooting from the field in a 56-40 win over the Saints.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers have won three straight games and six of their last seven following a 78-72 win at Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday.  Dominez Burnett leads the Panthers, and ranks seventh nationally, averaging 22.9 points per game while Kevin Rich adds 11.5 points per night.  As a team, Davenport is holding opponents to just 30.8% shooting from three-point range, 10th in the country while giving up just 64.4 points per night.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have dropped three of their last four games following a 71-63 setback on Wednesday at Michigan-Dearborn.  Madonna hosts Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  Shaun Duncan leads the Crusaders averaging 18.7 points per game while Khalil Malone adds 13.2 points per night.  Madonna ranks 17th nationally allowing teams to shoot just 40.1% from the field against them on the year.

Lourdes vs. Ranked Opponents: Lourdes will be playing its 29th game against a NAIA Division II top-25 opponent on Wednesday night when the Gray Wolves face Davenport.  Lourdes is 7-21 all-time against ranked foes, including 0-2 this year, after going 2-6 against such opposition last year.  The highest ranked team the Gray Wolves have ever defeated was #10 Davenport, doing so twice last season, 59-55 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and 75-71 at Tam-o-Shanter.  Earlier this year the Gray Wolves fell to #11 Cornerstone and #15 Saint Xavier.

Winning Big (and Small): Seven of Lourdes 10 victories this season have come by 15 or more points.  The Gray Wolves other three victories have come by two, three, and four points.  Lourdes is 3-1 in close games (five points or less) and 7-0 in blowouts (16 points or more).  However, the Gray Wolves are 0-7 in games decided between six and 15 points.

Just Missing a Career High: Jake DuPree fell one point short of a career high on Saturday afternoon, finishing the day with 22 points against Siena Heights to match his season's best output.  The fifth-year senior also tallied 22 points against Michigan-Dearborn earlier this year.  DuPree's career high of 23 points came against Point Park on Dec. 11, 2013.

Among the Nation's Top Defenses: Lourdes has given up just 57.9 points per game this season, a mark that ranks third in NAIA Division II.  The Gray Wolves finished in the top-five nationally in scoring defense each of the last three seasons as well.  Lourdes has also limited the opposition to just 39.9% shooting from the floor this season, the 13th best mark in the country.

First Defensive Loss: When Lourdes fell to Concordia (Mich.) last Wednesday evening, it marked the first time this season they Gray Wolves suffered a setback when allowing 60 points or less.  The Gray Wolves are now 8-1 when allowing 60 points or fewer, but are 0-4 when giving up more than 70 points in a contest.

Collecting Steals: Jake DuPree ranks third nationally averaging 3.00 steals per game this season.  He has at least one theft in every game this season, and a string of 22 consecutive games dating back to Feb. 15, 2014 against Cornerstone.  DuPree's 54 steals this season are already a career high.  The fifth-year senior has 159 thefts in his career at Lourdes.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Jake DuPree and Zach Steinmetz.  DuPree is a two-time team captain while Steinmetz is serving as a captain for the first time.

This and That: Jake DuPree went 9-for-9 from the free throw line against Siena Heights ... DuPree ranks 11th in NAIA Division II with a 3.7 assist-to-turnover ratio ... Zach Steinmetz has tallied seven double-doubles this season and 23 total in his two-year career with the Gray Wolves ... Steinmetz ranks eighth in the country averaging 3.4 offensive rebounds per game ... E.J. Blackwell has tallied double figures in 11 of his last 13 games ... Blackwell is the only Gray Wolf to start all 18 games this year.
