Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having alternated wins and losses over the last six games, Lourdes begins the stretch run of WHAC play this week, wrapping up a three-game homestand. The Gray Wolves will entertain nationally-ranked Cornerstone on Wednesday evening before hosting Lawrence Tech in a Saturday matinee.
On the Air: Wednesday's game against Cornerstone will be broadcast on BCSN on Buckeye Cablesystem. The game will be shown on BCSN at 11:30 p.m. as well as at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and 2 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday. In addition, BCSN2 will show the game on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and Friday at 12:30 a.m. as well as 10 p.m. Â
Head Coach Andre Smith: In his fifth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach,
Andre Smith has a 80-69 (.537) record. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history. Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.
Series Notes: Cornerstone holds a 7-1 advantage all-time against Lourdes in a series dating back to Dec. 10, 2011 and the Golden Eagles have won the last five meetings between the two schools. Cornerstone registered a 75-67 victory over the Gray Wolves earlier this season in Grand Rapids, Mich. Lourdes is 0-2 all-time against Cornerstone at Tam-o-Shanter. Lourdes holds a 5-1 series edge against Lawrence Tech dating back to Nov. 3, 2012. The Gray Wolves posted a 52-48 win over the Blue Devils in Southfield, Mich. earlier this season. Lourdes holds a 2-0 series advantage in games played at Tam-o-Shanter.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Zach Steinmetz scored 20 points on Wednesday night, but was the only Gray Wolf to tally double figures and Aquinas rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Lourdes 57-50. The Gray Wolves led by seven with 16 minutes to play before the late Saints rally. Steinmetz tallied a career-high 30 points on Saturday afternoon against Indiana Tech and Lourdes held off a late Warrior run to post a 68-65 home victory. The Gray Wolves committed just five turnovers in the win.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon with a 78-72 loss at #5 Davenport. Cornerstone ranks second in the nation allowing opponents to shoot just 39.0% from the floor against them. Kyle Steigenga leads the Golden Eagles averaging 19.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The freshman ranks third in the country shooting 70.2% from the floor. Ben Lanning adds 14.7 points per night while Cory Cox is tallying 14.0 points per game.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have dropped back-to-back games after a 70-65 setback at home against Madonna on Saturday. Lawrence Tech will host Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before traveling to Lourdes. Jon Harden leads the Blue Devils averaging 9.6 points per game while Jake Mullin adds 9.3 points per contest. Robbie Geoghegan leads NAIA Division II shooting 51.5% from three-point range.
Game #150: Wednesday night's game against Cornerstone is the 150th in men's basketball program history. The Gray Wolves are 80-69 over the first 149 games dating back to the first game on Oct. 30, 2010.
Steinmetz Has Career Night: Zach Steinmetz tallied a career high 30 points on Saturday afternoon in the Gray Wolves' win over Indiana Tech. The junior forward was 11-of-16 from the floor, including a three-pointer. Steinmetz bettered his previous best of 29 points set in the season opener at Spring Arbor. For the season he is averaging 17.8 points per game.
Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes committed a season low five turnovers against Indiana Tech on Saturday. The Gray Wolves, which are averaging just 12.4 miscues per contest, have now played five games in which they have committed eight turnovers or less this season.
Lourdes Finds Success at Both Ends of the Spectrum: Lourdes is 5-1 this season when playing games decided by five points or less and 7-1 in blowouts decided by more than 15 points. However, in games decided by 6-15 points, the Gray Wolves are winless in eight outings.
Home Sweet Home: Lourdes closes out its longest homestand of the year, three games, with the two contests this week. The Gray Wolves are 6-2 at Tam-o-Shanter this season and 7-2 at home overall if you include the "home" contest played at Adrian College. All-time Lourdes sports a 30-14 record playing at Tam-o-Shanter.
Among the Nation's Top Defenses: Lourdes has given up just 58.9 points per game this season, a mark that ranks third in NAIA Division II. The Gray Wolves finished in the top-five nationally in scoring defense each of the last three seasons as well. Lourdes has also limited the opposition to just 40.7% shooting from the floor this season, the 17th best mark in the country. Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season. Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are

Zach Steinmetz. DuPree is a two-time team captain while Steinmetz is serving as a captain for the first time.
