Women's Hoops Closes Homestand Vs. Cornerstone and Lawrence Tech

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up its three-game homestand this week with a pair of contests at Tam-o-Shanter.  The Gray Wolves will entertain Cornerstone on Wednesday night before hosting Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon.

On the Air: Wednesday's game against Cornerstone will be broadcast live on BCSN and BCSN Erie on Buckeye Cablesystem.  The game will also be replayed on BCSN at 4 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday as well as at 9 a.m. on Friday.  In addition, BCSN2 will show the game on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. as well as on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 a.m.

Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Karen McConnell has a 12-39 (.235) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 292-286 (.505) record in her 22nd season.  She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone holds a 7-0 mark all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to Dec. 10, 2011.  The Golden Eagles were 66-40 victors in Grand Rapids, Mich. in the first meeting of the season between the two schools.  Cornerstone holds a 2-0 series edge in games played at Tam-o-Shanter.  Lawrence Tech is 3-2 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Nov. 17, 2012, with Lourdes winning the first two and Lawrence Tech taking the last three games.  The Blue Devils won the first meeting between the two teams 84-65 in Southfield, Mich.  The two schools have split the two previous meetings at Tam-o-Shanter.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes shot just 27.3% from the floor on Wednesday evening in a 56-48 loss at Aquinas.  Lauren Tilden tallied 15 points while Niki Meyer added 14 more in the loss for the Gray Wolves.  On Saturday, Indiana Tech closed the game on a 17-2 run and rallied to defeat Lourdes 61-52 at Tam-o-Shanter.  Jesse Fidler tallied 11 points while Jessica Durr and Emily Orsini added 10 points each.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling 76-48 at #1 Davenport.  Cornerstone has won 10 of its last 12 games overall dating back to mid-December as well.  Jill Hendrickson leads the way for the Golden Eagles, averaging 14.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.  Ashley Niedermayer adds 10.9 points per contest.  Cornerstone is outrebounding teams by 8.7 boards per night, a mark that ranks 12th in NAIA Division II.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have won two of their last three games after downing #22 Madonna 86-82 on Saturday.  Lawrence Tech hosts Concordia on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  The Blue Devils rank sixth in the country shooting 45.9% from the floor, with Allison Kitchen second in the nation shooting 60.8%.  Kitchen leads Lawrence Tech averaging 16.6 points per game while grabbing 7.7 rebounds per night.  Allison Bicknell adds 11.4 points per game while Hali Butler is tallying 10.5 points per night.

Heading Down the Stretch: After this week's three-game homestand concludes, Lourdes will have just two home games remaining in the 2014-2015 season.  This Saturday's contest is also the final home weekend date on the schedule.  Following this week, the Gray Wolves will play four of their final six games on the road.

Among the Top Three-Point Shooters: Lauren Tilden remains seventh nationally in three-point shooting, averaging 3.09 triples per contest.  She drained five threes last Wednesday at Aquinas, marking the third time this season she has made at least five in a game.  Tilden has made 68 on the season and 284 in her four-year career.

Tonight's Scoring Leader is?: Lauren Tilden has led or shared the team lead for the Gray Wolves in scoring in 14 of 22 games this season.  However, a total of eight different players have at least had a share of the scoring lead for Lourdes in at least one contest.

Double-Double for Durr: Jessica Durr tallied her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon against Aquinas, scoring 10 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.  She now has seven double figure scoring games and eight double figure rebound contests on the season.

Finally Making Free Throws: After entering the game shooting just 59.8% from the free throw line, Lourdes shot 83.3% (15-of-18) from the charity stripe on Saturday against Indiana Tech.  The game was only the fourth time this season the Gray Wolves shot better than 67% from the line in a game.  Lauren Tilden is the lone Gray Wolf (with more than four attempts) shooting better than 70% from the line individually, connecting at a 73.1% clip.  As a team Lourdes is shooting just 60.5% from the stripe.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Lauren Tilden and Emily Orsini.  Tilden is a two-time team captain, having also served in that role in 2012-2013, while Orsini is in her first season as a team captain.

This and That: Lauren Tilden, Jesse Fidler, and Emily Orsini have started all 22 games this season ... 17 different players have seen the floor for the Gray Wolves this season ... Lourdes opponents have outrebounded the Gray Wolves by seven boards total this season ... the Gray Wolves are holding opponents to just 29.8% shooting from three-point range.
