Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes steps away from Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this week while continuing the team's five-game road trip. The Gray Wolves head to Spring Arbor on Tuesday evening before traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday afternoon for a date with fourth-ranked Marian.
Head Coach Andre Smith: In his sixth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach,
Andre Smith has a 90-78 (.536) record. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history. Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.
Series Notes: Spring Arbor holds a 3-1 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Nov. 5, 2010. Spring Arbor won the last meeting, 65-63, on Nov. 1, 2014. The Cougars hold a 2-1 series edge in games played at Spring Arbor. Lourdes' lone victory in the series came Nov. 5, 2011, a 59-53 win on the road. Marian holds a 2-0 all-time edge against Lourdes dating back to Dec. 20, 2012, with both contests played at the Saint Xavier Midwest Classic in Chicago, Ill. In the last meeting between the two schools, on Dec. 22, 2014, the Knights defeated Lourdes 78-70. Saturday will mark the first game ever between the two schools in Indianapolis.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes shot 49.3% from the floor and forced 28 Akron Wayne turnovers on Tuesday on the way to a 90-57 victory in a game played at Adrian College.Â

Blackwell each tallied 22 points for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes outscored the Warriors 64-20 in the paint. On Saturday, Lourdes held a two-point lead with under seven minutes to play before third-ranked Davenport rallied to defeat the Gray Wolves 70-64 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Swanigan tallied 17 points while
Zach Steinmetz added 16 points and nine rebounds for Lourdes.
Scouting Spring Arbor: The Cougars have dropped four of their last five games after falling 75-74 in overtime on Friday at Albion. Greg Hamilton leads four Spring Arbor players averaging in double figures, tallying 13.6 points per game, while Anthony Qasawa adds 12.5 points per night. Thomas Starks is the team's leading rebounder, grabbing 8.8 boards per contest.
Scouting Marian: The Knights enter play a perfect 12-0 after downing Indiana-Kokomo 78-54 on Sunday afternoon. Wesley Stowers paces five Marian players averaging double figures, tallying 16.3 points per night. Dion Smith adds 14.1 points per game while also pulling down a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game for the Knights.
Yet Another Top-5 Team: When Lourdes travels to fourth-ranked Marian on Saturday, the Gray Wolves will be facing their third top-five ranked team of the season. The Gray Wolves already faced number one Cornerstone, falling to the Golden Eagles 63-54. Last Saturday, the Gray Wolves dropped a 70-64 decision to third-ranked Davenport. All-time, Lourdes is 1-10 against top-five programs, with the lone win coming against fourth-ranked Davenport 53-32 on Feb. 18, 2015.
Four Season Highs Last Week: Lourdes received scoring output from a variety of sources last week, with four players tallying their season highs over the two games.Â
Anthony Swanigan led the Gray Wolves against Akron Wayne with a team-high 22 points, marking his highest output of the year.Â
Alonzo Hamilton added 15 points, his first double-figure effort at Lourdes, while
Virgil Walker scored a season's best four points. On Saturday at Davenport,
Daniel Steen added his first double figure game of his career with 11 points.
Johnson Tallies Second Career Double-Double: Julian Johnson posted his second career double-double against Akron Wayne, tallying 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. He also had six assists in his 30 minutes of action against the Warriors. Johnson's only previous double-double while at Lourdes came Feb. 14, 2015, a 12-point, 11-rebound effort at Siena Heights.
Who's in the Lineup Today?: Lourdes has had nine different players start at least one contest thus far this season, with only
Anthony Swanigan drawing the starting nod in all 11 games.Â
E.J. Blackwell is the only other Gray Wolf with at least 10 starts. Â
A Second Half Team: Lourdes has scored just 311 points in the opening 20 minutes of games this season, as the Gray Wolves have been outscored by 16 points before break. After intermission however, Lourdes has posted 405 points on the year, and is outscoring the opposition 405-359. Â
