Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Following a win on Saturday afternoon, Lourdes takes to the road this week for a pair of games as the Gray Wolves begin the final month of the 2014-2015 season.  Lourdes heads to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday evening and to Michigan-Dearborn for a Saturday afternoon matinee to battle a pair of teams behind the Gray Wolves in the standings.

Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Karen McConnell has a 13-40 (.245) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 293-287 (.505) record in her 22nd season.  She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Concordia (Mich.) leads the all-time series with Lourdes 6-1 dating back to Oct. 27, 2011.  The Gray Wolves earned their first win in the series earlier this season at Tam-o-Shanter, scoring a 79-60 victory over the Cardinals on Jan. 7.  Concordia holds a 3-0 edge in the series in games played in Ann Arbor, Mich.  Michigan-Dearborn holds a 4-3 all-time advantage against the Gray Wolves in a series that dates back to Jan. 14, 2012.  The Wolverines scored a 64-54 win at Tam-o-Shanter back on Nov. 15 to open WHAC play.  Michigan-Dearborn holds a 2-1 series edge in Dearborn, Mich., with Lourdes earning its first win on the road last year, a 64-60 overtime triumph.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind by 13 points in the first half, rallied to take a second half lead, but eventually fell 56-49 at home against Cornerstone on Wednesday night.  Jesse Fidler scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Gray Wolves while Niki Meyer added 10 points.  On Saturday afternoon, Lourdes jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead and withstood a Lawrence Tech rally in the second half to defeat the Blue Devils 74-70 at Tam-o-Shanter.  Molea Thompson tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds off of the bench while Lauren Tilden added 17 points.  Fidler and Emily Orsini each tallied 12 points as the Gray Wolves had four players finish in double figures.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals have lost six consecutive games after falling twice last weekend at the Concordia Invitational on their own home floor.  The Cardinals fell to Concordia (Wis.) on Friday and Concordia (Ill.) on Saturday.  Kari Borowiak leads Concordia in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game.  Michelle Murnen is the only other Cardinal tallying double figures, posting 10.2 points per night.  As a team Concordia ranks fourth in the nation grabbing 17.83 offensive rebounds per game.  Mara Mulroy, who has more offensive boards than defensive ones, is 31st in NAIA Division II averaging 3.33 per night.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have dropped nine straight games following an 82-55 setback at home against Siena Heights on Saturday evening.  Michigan-Dearborn hosts Aquinas on Wednesday night before concluding its three-game homestand on Saturday against Lourdes.  Jalissa Williams leads the Wolverines averaging 22.0 points per game while Andrea Collins adds 11.9 points per night.  Courtney Teets also tallies double figures, scoring 10.8 points per night.  As a team the Wolverines rank 31st in the country pulling down 14.42 offensive rebounds per game.

68 is the Magic Number: After scoring 74 points on Saturday afternoon in the win over Lawrence Tech, the Gray Wolves improved to 7-0 when scoring 70 or more points.  On the other hand, the Gray Wolves are 0-17 when failing to reach the magic number.

Among the Top Three-Point Shooters: Lauren Tilden ranks eighth nationally in three-point shooting, averaging 3.08 triples per contest.  She is closing in on 300 for her career.  Tilden enters the week having made 74 treys on the season and 290 in her four-year career.

A Pair of Firsts: Lourdes tallied a pair of firsts on Saturday in the victory over Lawrence Tech.  The win marked the first time in 15 tries that the Gray Wolves won a game while shooting a lower percentage from the floor than their opponents.  (Lourdes shot 38.8% while Lawrence Tech shot 40.0%).  In addition, it marked the first time the Gray Wolves won a game in which they were outrebounded (48-35) in 13 games.

Double-Double for Thompson: Freshman Molea Thompson recorded her first collegiate double-double on Saturday in the win over the Blue Devils.  The rookie point guard scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the team's fifth double-double of the year.  Senior Jessica Durr recorded the other four double-doubles.

Looking to Remain in Postseason Hunt: Lourdes victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday was key to any chance the Gray Wolves have of making the WHAC tournament.  Lourdes enters the final six games of the regular season in ninth place, but the Gray Wolves trail eighth place Aquinas by four games in the standings.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2014-2015 are Lauren Tilden and Emily Orsini.  Tilden is a two-time team captain, having also served in that role in 2012-2013, while Orsini is in her first season as a team captain.

This and That: Lauren Tilden, Jesse Fidler, and Emily Orsini have started all 24 games this season ... 17 different players have seen the floor for the Gray Wolves this season ... the Gray Wolves are holding opponents to just 29.6% shooting from three-point range, a mark that ranks 46th in all of NAIA Division II.
