Lourdes University head coach
Andre Smith has announced that
Greg Fleming is transferring to the school to play basketball for the Gray Wolves for the 2015-2016 season.
Fleming, a native of Chicago, Ill., arrives at Lourdes from Grand Rapids Community College where he averaged 12.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 steals per game for the Raiders last season. He was named Honorable Mention All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference honors in 2014-2015 while also being named to the league's All-Defensive Team.
"Greg will add good depth for us from the wing position," Smith stated. "He is a good defender that can guard multiple positions on the floor and is also a slasher who can score in transition. Greg comes to us from a solid, winning program. His tough mentality will be a great asset."
Fleming scored a season-high 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting against Kalamazoo Valley CC as he tallied 22 double-figure scoring efforts in 29 appearances at Grand Rapids CC. Fleming pulled down a season's best 11 rebounds against Northwood JV.
A product of Clemente High School, he earned First Team All-Chicago Public League-Blue West Conference honors and was also an All-Section performer. As a senior for the Wildcats, Fleming was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior when he averaged 18.7 points per game. He played in the City All-Star game following his senior year.
Following high school, Fleming attended the University of Wisconsin-Marinette, where he played on the school's club team.
Fleming should have three years of eligibility remaining upon his arrival at Lourdes.
