Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up a three-game homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Indiana Tech at Tam-o-Shanter.  Lourdes will then travel to Cornerstone on Saturday to begin a three-game road trip, and a stretch where the Gray Wolves will play six of their next eight games on the road, looking to climb the league standings.

Head Coach Andre Smith: In his sixth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Andre Smith has a 92-84 (.523) record.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.  Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 6-5 all-time advantage against Indiana Tech in a series that dates back to Oct. 30, 2010.  The Warriors won the first meeting this season 78-48 in Fort Wayne on Dec. 2.  The series is even 2-2 all-time at Tam-o-Shanter.  Cornerstone is 10-1 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Dec. 10, 2011.  Cornerstone has won the last eight meetings between the two teams, including a 63-54 triumph earlier this year at Tam-o-Shanter on Nov. 14.  The Golden Eagles are 5-1 all-time in the series in Grand Rapids.

Earlier This Season: Runs of 19-5 and 22-6 by Indiana Tech proved to be the difference on Dec. 2 as the Warriors defeated Lourdes 78-48 in Fort Wayne.  E.J. Blackwell led the Gray Wolves with 16 points while Miles Robinson scored 16 points for Indiana Tech.  Lourdes opened WHAC play at home against then #1 Cornerstone on Nov. 14, falling 63-54.  Blackwell tallied 16 points to pace the Gray Wolves while Kyle Steigenga led all scorers with 19 points for Cornerstone.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind by 18 points in the first half, clawed back to take a second half lead, but ultimately fell in the final minute to Marygrove 82-79 at home on Wednesday night.  E.J. Blackwell led the Gray Wolves with 33 points while Alonzo Hamilton added 14 points in the loss.  On Saturday, Lourdes spotted #22 Aquinas an 11-1 lead and never recovered in a 64-46 home defeat.  Blackwell again led the Gray Wolves with 16 point while Darrionate Stewart added 10.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won two straight games and 10 of their last 12 overall after a 70-57 win at Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.  Miles Robinson leads Indiana Tech averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 42.1% from three-point range.  Dominique Walls adds 14.3 points per night, shooting 60.5% from the floor, while grabbing a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game.  Lavonte Davis is also averaging in double figures, scoring 10.4 points per outing.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week having dropped two of their last three games overall following a 79-78 buzzer-beating loss at Madonna on Saturday.  Cornerstone heads to Aquinas on Wednesday before beginning a four-game homestand with Lourdes.  Kyle Steigenga leads five Golden Eagles averaging in double figures, scoring 20.4 points per game while shooting 65.8% from the field.  Ben Lanning adds 16.2 points and a team-high 9.2 rebounds per contest.

Blackwell Has Big Week: E.J. Blackwell led Lourdes in scoring in both games last week, averaging 24.5 points per contest.  He matched his career high with 33 points, against Marygrove, with 23 of the points coming in the second half.  Blackwell came off of the bench against #22 Aquinas to tally a team-high 16 points.  On the week, Blackwell made 15-of-16 free throw attempts, and is now shooting a team-best 80.4% from the charity stripe.

Empty from Downtown: Saturday's loss versus Aquinas marked the second time this season that Lourdes has failed to connect from beyond the arc.  The Gray Wolves missed all eight of their three-point attempts against the Saints.  The only other time this season Lourdes did not make a triple was at Indiana Tech on Dec. 2, when the Gray Wolves attempted just two shots from long range.

Looking to Snap the String: Lourdes enters the week having lost three straight games for the third time this year.  The Gray Wolves have yet to drop four consecutive contests though, winning by six points against Michigan-Dearborn and by three points against Indiana-Northwest to snap losing skids.

Limiting Scoring Yet Again: The Gray Wolves enter the week ranked 10th in NAIA Division II allowing 66.3 points per game this season after finishing in the top-five nationally in scoring defense each of the last four seasons.  Lourdes finished third in NAIA Division II last season surrendering just 58.7 points per game.  In 2013-2014 Lourdes was fifth (63.10), one year after leading the country in 2012-2013 allowing just 51.3 points per night.

More National Rankings: Lourdes has improved to 72.6% from the free throw line this season after making 32-of-41 attempts over the past two games, and now ranks 28th in all of NAIA Division II.  In addition, the Gray Wolves are holding teams to 42.0% shooting from the floor, a mark that is 33rd nationally.  Lourdes is outrebounding opponents by 3.84 boards per night, ranking 43rd in rebounding margin.

Individually Among the National Leaders: Zach Steinmetz ranks 30th in the country averaging 8.7 rebounds per contest.  Julian Johnson ranks 37th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.71 and also ranks 49th handing out 4.0 assists per game.

This and That: Zach Steinmetz needs just four points to reach 1,250 for his career ... Lourdes has fallen behind in the first half by double figures in four of its last five games ... the Gray Wolves have never finished WHAC play with a sub .500 record.
