Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up its three-game homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Indiana Tech at Tam-o-Shanter. Lourdes then takes to the road for the first of three straight games on Saturday afternoon, heading to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone.
Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench
Karen McConnell has an 19-59 (.244) record. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 299-306 (.494) record in her 22nd season. She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Indiana Tech holds a 7-1 all-time series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 7, 2012, and has won the last five contests between the two schools. Earlier this season the Warriors posted a 94-72 victory over the Gray Wolves on Dec. 2 in Fort Wayne. Indiana Tech is 3-0 all-time in the series at Tam-o-Shanter. Cornerstone is 9-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to Dec. 10, 2011. The Golden Eagles defeated the Gray Wolves 56-37 on Nov. 14 of this season, and has won all four previous meetings in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Earlier This Season: Indiana Tech jumped out to a 25-point halftime lead on Dec. 2 on the way to defeating the Gray Wolves 94-72 in Fort Wayne.Â
Jesse Fidler led Lourdes with 15 points while Haley Cook tallied 26 points and seven assists for the Warriors. Cornerstone limited Lourdes to just 30% shooting, including an 0-for-11 mark from three-point range on Nov. 14, and defeated the Gray Wolves 56-37 in the WHAC opener. Fidler led Lourdes with 19 points while Jesse Sheridan tallied 19 points for the Golden Eagles.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes limited Marygrove to just 23.0% shooting on the night on the way to an 88-49 victory over the Mustangs at home on Wednesday.Â

Lindsey Motycka added 14 points. On Saturday, Aquinas made 7-of-15 three-pointers, and pulled away in the fourth quarter to score a 59-45 victory over Lourdes at Tam-o-Shanter. Fidler led the Gray Wolves with 16 points while Motycka added 11 more. Â
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won back-to-back games following an 83-49 triumph on the road at Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday. Taylor Seiss leads Indiana Tech averaging 15.8 points per game and is shooting 44.0% from three-point range. Haley Cook adds 15.0 points per night, and is an 83.5% free throw shooter for the Warriors while Taylor Carver has chipped in 11.9 points per night. Kendall Knapke is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 6.6 boards per game.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have dropped two of their last three games following an 82-66 setback at Madonna on Saturday. Cornerstone heads to Aquinas on Wednesday before entertaining the Gray Wolves. Jesse Sheridan leads the Golden Eagles averaging 15.5 points per game. Jill Steenwyk is the team's top rebounder, grabbing 5.9 caroms per night. Â
Double the Work: Jesse Fidler and
Constance Conner both registered double-doubles in last Wednesday night's win over Marygrove. Fidler scored 19 points and grabbed 16 boards for her first double-double at Lourdes. Conner tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double as well.
Lots of Points: Lourdes tallied a season-high 88 points in the victory over Marygrove, the team's highest scoring output of the season by far. The previous high had been 72 in the season opener over Cincinnati Christian as well as at Indiana Tech. The 88 points also represented the most points scored by the Gray Wolves since tallying 93 against Kuyper on Nov. 11, 2014.
Lots of Missed Action: Only
Jesse Fidler and
Lindsey Motycka have appeared in all 19 games for the Gray Wolves this season. Fidler is the only player that has started in every contest, with
Andrea Hodge having started 18 of the 19 games. Â
Controlling the Inside: Lourdes outscored both opponents in the paint last week, including a 56-10 advantage against Marygrove. The Gray Wolves also outrebounded the Mustangs 63-40, including 22-10 on the offensive end of the floor. In the contest against Aquinas, Lourdes held a 30-20 edge scoring inside .
McConnell One Shy of 300 Career Wins:Â Head coach
Karen McConnell is just one win shy of 300 for her career, which spans 22 seasons. The third year head coach has won 19 of her games while on the bench at Lourdes.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes has limited its opponents to 61.3 points per game this season, a mark that ranks 28th in NAIA Division II. Lourdes also ranks 43rd nationally as a team averaging 9.95 steals per contest.
Fidler Among the National Leaders Individually: Jesse Fidler ranks 11th in the country in field goal percentage, connecting at a 53.9% clip. In addition, the sophomore is 17th nationally grabbing 3.68 offensive rebounds per contest. Fidler also ranks 20th in NAIA individually with 45 steals on the season and her 2.4 thefts per night rank 31st in NAIA Division II. Â
Captains Named: Lourdes has two sophomore captains on the roster this season. Serving in the leadership role for 2015-2016 are
Jesse Fidler and
Niki Meyer. The duo both had successful freshmen campaigns with the Gray Wolves.
This and That: Jesse Fidler surpassed 500 career points last week, and enters the week with 520 over her two years at Lourdes ... the Gray Wolves committed a season-low eight turnovers against Marygrove ...
