Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The final two games of the season to be played at Tam-o-Shanter will take place this week for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves will entertain Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday evening before hosting top-ranked Davenport on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves need to move up the WHAC standings quickly to make the conference tournament which begins in three weeks.

Head Coach Andre Smith: In his sixth season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Andre Smith has a 92-88 (.511) record.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.  Smith was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012-2013.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 7-5 all-time advantage against Concordia (Mich.) in a series that dates back to Nov. 10, 2010.  The Cardinals won the first meeting this season 71-61 in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Nov. 18.  The Gray Wolves lead the series 3-1 at Tam-o-Shanter.  Davenport is 8-3 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Jan. 4, 2012.  The Panthers won the first meeting this year 70-64 in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Dec. 12.  The series is 2-2 in games played at Tam-o-Shanter.

Earlier This Season: Concordia shot 50% from three-point range, making 11 triples, on the way to a 71-61 victory over the Gray Wolves in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Nov. 18.  Zach Steinmetz led all scorers with 22 points for Lourdes while E.J. Blackwell added 16 points.  Alec Turner led four Cardinals that finished in double figures, scoring 15 points, while Jerald Booker added 12 points.  On Dec. 12 in Grand Rapids, Mich., Lourdes led third-ranked Davenport by one at halftime before the Panthers rallied for a 70-64 victory.  Dominez Burnett led all scorers with 28 points for Davenport while Anthony Swanigan paced Lourdes with 17 points.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes rallied from 14 points down in the second half to tie on Wednesday, but in the end Michigan-Dearborn pulled out a 74-70 victory over the Gray Wolves in Dearborn, Mich.  E.J. Blackwell led Lourdes with 20 points while Zach Steinmetz added 15 points.  On Saturday, the Gray Wolves trailed Lawrence Tech by just two at halftime, but the Blue Devils held Lourdes to just 20.8% shooting over the final 20 minutes to post a 61-40 victory in Southfield, Mich.  Blackwell paced Lourdes with 11 points as the only Gray Wolf to tally double figures.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals snapped a four-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon with an 81-66 victory over Concordia (Ill.) in the consolation game of the Concordia Invitational.  Jerald Booker leads the Cardinals averaging 13.2 points per game while Alec Turner has added 13.0 points per night.  As a team, Concordia ranks 14th in the nation grabbing 13.42 offensive rebounds per game.

Scouting Davenport: The top-ranked Panthers enter the week having won eight straight games following an 88-72 victory at home over Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.  Davenport hosts Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  Dominez Burnett leads the Panthers, and ranks third nationally, in scoring, averaging 26.1 points per game.  He is also pulling down 7.6 rebounds per game.  Wayne Bradford adds 11.8 points per contest while Kevin Rich contributes 11.5 points per game.  As a team, Davenport ranks second nationally in steals per game (10.75) and is third in the country allowing just 64.5 points per contest.

Hosting #1 Again: When Lourdes entertains Davenport, it will mark the second time this season the Gray Wolves will host the nation's top-ranked team.  The Gray Wolves fell 63-54 to then #1 Cornerstone on Nov. 14 to open WHAC play.  Prior to this season Lourdes had never hosted a top-ranked foe, and only once had ever played the number one team in the country, a 74-62 loss to Saint Francis (Ind.) on Nov. 12, 2010 in Adrian, Mich.

Down the Stretch in the WHAC: Lourdes enters the week tied for 12th place in the WHAC standings with six games to play.  However, the Gray Wolves are only two games behind Siena Heights for the eighth and final tournament qualifying position for the postseason WHAC tournament and still have three games remaining against teams within two games of Lourdes in the standings.
