Women's Basketball Concludes Season This Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The 2015-2016 season comes to a close this week as Lourdes plays its final two games.  The Gray Wolves take to the road for the final time on Wednesday to battle Northwestern Ohio.  The season finale on Saturday will take place at Owens CC as Lourdes entertains Siena Heights on Senior Night.

Head Coach Karen McConnell: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Karen McConnell has a 21-65 (.244) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, McConnell has a 301-312 (.491) record in her 22nd season.  She is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

On the Air: Saturday's game against Siena Heights will be broadcast by BCSN on Buckeye Cablesystem.  The game will air on Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. as well as on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.  In addition, BCSN2 will show the game on Sunday at 6 a.m. and Monday at 1 a.m.

Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio holds a 9-0 all-time series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 18, 2012, after the Racers won the meeting earlier this season at Tam-o-Shanter 67-45 on Jan. 6.  Northwestern Ohio holds a 4-0 series edge in games played in Lima, Ohio.  Siena Heights is 9-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to Dec. 3, 2011.  The Saints defeated the Gray Wolves 53-49 on Jan. 9 in Adrian, Mich.  Siena Heights is 4-0 in games hosted by Lourdes, but the two schools will be meeting for the first time at Owens CC.

Earlier This Season: Northwestern Ohio held Lourdes to just 16 first half points on Jan. 6 on the way to a 67-45 victory at Tam-o-Shanter.  Stacia Allen led the Racers with 13 points while Molea Thompson came off of the bench to score a team-high 11 points.  On Jan. 9 Siena Heights pulled out a narrow 53-49 victory over Lourdes.  Avery Chezem led the Saints with 14 points while Niki Meyer scored 12 points to pace the Gray Wolves.  Jesse Fidler pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds for Lourdes.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes used a 23-11 advantage in the third quarter to pull away from Marygrove 76-57 on Wednesday evening in Detroit, Mich.  Jesse Fidler tallied a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds while Molea Thompson came off of the bench to score 12 points.  On Saturday afternoon, Madonna scored 59 points in the second and third quarters combined, on the way to an 85-59 victory over the Gray Wolves in Livonia, Mich.  Mariah DuPree led Lourdes with 15 points, making five three-pointers, while Fidler tallied 14 points in the loss.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have dropped two straight games after suffering a 56-51 loss at Siena Heights on Saturday evening.  Northwestern Ohio does not have any players averaging in double figures, but five different Racers are tallying 7.9 points per game or more.  Stacia Allen leads the way scoring 9.7 points per night while Eboni Adams adds 9.6 points per game.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the final week of the regular season having won five straight games after posting a 56-51 victory over Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.  Siena Heights travels to Madonna on Wednesday before facing Lourdes.  April Watson leads the Saints scoring 13.8 points and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game while Jaaliyah Arrington adds 12.3 points per night.  As a team Siena Heights leads the country allowing opponents to shoot just 31.9% from the floor, including 24.7% from three-point range.  

Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor its two seniors prior to Saturday night's game against Siena Heights.  Charee Jones and Constance Conner will be making their final appearances in a Gray Wolf uniform.

Home Away From Home: Due to a facility conflict at Tam-o-Shanter, the season finale will be played at Owens Community College.  The Gray Wolves have used Owens as a home court on two other occasions, but are still looking for their first victory in the facility.  Lourdes fell to Cornerstone 67-56 to close the 2013 season while dropping a 74-61 contest to Aquinas in the final game of 2014.

Fidler Notches Second Double-Double: Jesse Fidler notched her second double-double of the season, and of her career, on Wednesday at Marygrove.  The sophomore scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, 10 on the offensive end of the floor.  Fidler also had a double-double on Jan. 13 at home against Marygrove when she scored 19 points and grabbed 16 boards.

Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes has limited its opponents to 62.7 points per game this season, a mark that ranks 41st in NAIA Division II.  Lourdes also ranks 44th nationally as a team averaging 9.56 steals per contest.

Individually Among the National Leaders: Jesse Fidler ranks 11th in the country in offensive rebounding, grabbing 3.93 boards per night.  Fidler also ranks 21st in field goal percentage, connecting at a 52.1% clip.  In addition, Fidler also ranks 24th in NAIA individually with 61 steals on the season and her 2.3 thefts per night rank 36th in NAIA Division II.  Samantha Enck also ranks in the top-40 nationally with a 1.91 assist-to-turnover ratio, which is 36th in the country.

Captains Named: Lourdes has two sophomore captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2015-2016 are Jesse Fidler and Niki Meyer.  The duo both had successful freshmen campaigns with the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Jesse Fidler surpassed 600 points for her career entering the week with 604 ... eight different players have started nine or more games ... Mariah DuPree has made nine of her 20 three-pointers over the last three contests.
