A balanced attack throughout the lineup helped Lourdes snap a five-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves defeated Marygrove 77-57 at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

All nine Gray Wolves that dressed found the scoring and rebounding columns, and Lourdes held a large 59-26 advantage on the glass, including a 25-4 edge on the offensive boards.

"It is great to get a win in January," head coach
Summer Quesenberry said after the victory.  "We did a great job rebounding the basketball today, limiting Marygrove to just 26 total rebounds. We managed 25 offensive boards, which led to 16 additional points for us. Overall, it was a great team win as everyone scored, everyone rebounded and everyone got an assist."

Trailing 15-14 with three minutes to play in the opening quarter, Lourdes closed the period on a 14-2 run to build an 11-point lead after 10 minutes. Marygrove battled back in the second, scoring seven unanswered points in a four-minute span to cut the lead to two, 31-29, but Lourdes was able to extend its advantage back to seven, 39-32, at the break.

The Gray Wolves shot 50% from the floor while limiting Marygrove to just three field goals in the third, outscoring the Mustangs 20-9 in the quarter while building an 18-point advantage. After the Mustangs cut the lead to 13, 61-48, with 7:21 to play, Lourdes scored the next six points to put the game out of reach.

Daja Whiteside (Auburn Hills, Mich./Avondale H.S.) tallied a double-double, with 14 points and 13 rebounds, to lead Lourdes, while
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) added 13 points and nine boards.Â
Mariah DuPree (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) chipped in 12 points while
Lindsey Motycka (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) added 10 points and nine rebounds, all season highs.

Elisha Major led Marygrove (3-20, 1-13 WHAC) with 23 points while Leija Masinovic added 19 points.

Lourdes (6-16, 4-10) will finish its three-game homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves hosts Concordia (Mich.). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Ebeid Rec Center.
