Lourdes hung with Concordia (Mich.) nearly the entire way on Wednesday evening, but the Cardinals used a 19-8 fourth quarter run to secure a 73-61 victory over the Gray Wolves at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) matched her career high with 21 points and added a season-high 14 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and Payton Ramey (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas H.S.) added a career-best 11 points for the Gray Wolves.  Elayna Ackerman (Fremont, Ohio/Ross H.S.) pulled down 11 rebounds giving the Gray Wolves two players with double figures on the night on the glass.

"Tonight we played hard enough to win," head coach Summer Quesenberry said afterwards.  "Our effort was tremendous on the glass, pulling down 58 boards.  With 22 of them on the offensive side of glass it shows great resilience."

The Gray Wolves outrebounded the Cardinals 58-32 for the night, but turned the ball over 23 times and shot 34.7% from the field, including just 21.4% (3-for-14) from three-point range.

Unfortunately we committed too many fouls and turned the ball over 23 times," Quesenberry added.  "Giving a team like Concordia 35 shots from the free throw line as well as extra unearned possessions was self-defeating and made it extremely difficult to dig ourselves out of our own hole."

Lourdes started quickly, building an early eight-point lead in the opening quarter, 16-8, before the Cardinals responded with eight straight points to tie the game.  The Gray Wolves finished the quarter with the final four points and never trailed in the stanza, shooting 50% from the field in the period while taking a 20-16 advantage to the second.

The Gray Wolves hung tough before halftime despite just three field goals in the second quarter.  Another 8-0 run by the Cardinals put Concordia in front for the first time on the evening 30-27 with 2:54 remaining before the break.  Ramey responded with a triple to tie the game, but the Cardinals made two free throws with 0.8 seconds remaining in the half to take a 32-30 lead into the locker room.

An 11-1 run during the early stages of the third allowed Concordia to build a 12-point lead, 45-33, at the midway point of the period.  The Gray Wolves were able to battle back, cutting the deficit in half, 48-42, heading into the final 10 minutes.

A three-point play by Daja Whiteside (Auburn Hills, Mich./Avondale H.S.), who finished with eight points and nine rebounds, brought Lourdes within three, 54-51, with 6:51 to play, but the Cardinals gradually extended its lead from there to secure the victory.

Kari Borowiak and Michelle Murnen led Concordia (15-7, 9-7 WHAC) with 15 points each while Zhana Randolph and Brianna Rowe added 10 points each as four Cardinals finished in double figures.

Lourdes (6-17, 4-11) will begin a three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to battle 20th-ranked Indiana Tech.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Schaefer Center Gymnasium.
