Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: A pair of ranked teams are on the slate for Lourdes this week as the Gray Wolves venture to Grand Rapids, Mich.  Lourdes will battle top-ranked Cornerstone on Wednesday evening before returning to Grand Rapids on Saturday for an afternoon contest at 15th-ranked Davenport.

Head Coach Josh Gibson: In his first season on the Lourdes bench Josh Gibson has a 4-19 (.174) record.  Overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Gibson has a 64-75 (.460) record in his fifth season.  He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone leads the all-time series with Lourdes 12-1 dating back to Dec. 10, 2011.  The Golden Eagles have won 10 straight contests against Lourdes after downing the Gray Wolves 83-64 on Dec. 7 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Cornerstone is 6-1 against the Gray Wolves all-time in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Davenport leads the series with Lourdes 10-3 dating back to Jan. 4, 2012.  The Panthers have won three straight contests after defeating the Gray Wolves 75-57 on Dec. 17 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Davenport holds a 5-1 series advantage in games played in Grand Rapids.

Earlier This Season: Lourdes was within six of Cornerstone early in the second half on Dec. 7, but the Golden Eagles pulled away down the stretch to defeat the Gray Wolves 83-64 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Najeeb Johnson led Lourdes with 26 points while Levert Bristol had a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.  Kyle Steigenga led Cornerstone with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  On Dec. 17 Davenport went on a late 11-0 run to pull away from Lourdes in a 75-57 win at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Johnson tallied 18 points for Lourdes while Robbie Bramhill scored 23 points for the Panthers.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes made 12 of its first 13 shots from the floor on Wednesday on the way to an 81-60 victory at home over Concordia (Mich.).  Anthony Swanigan scored 18 points and had eight boards to pace the Gray Wolves.  On Saturday, Lourdes was tied on the road with Indiana Tech at halftime but the Warriors pulled away in the second half for a 74-60 win.  Najeeb Johnson tallied 14 points to lead the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Cornerstone: The top-ranked Golden Eagles have won six straight games following a 67-64 win at Madonna on Saturday.  Kyle Steigenga leads Cornerstone averaging 22.4 points per game while adding 9.3 rebounds per night.  Cory Cox adds 16.0 points per game on a team that has four double figure scorers and is averaging 81.8 points per night.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers enter the week having won three straight games following a 77-69 victory at home against Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.  Davenport heads to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Kevin Rich leads Davenport averaging 17.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.  Javon Haines adds 15.1 points per outing for a team tallying 84.9 points per night.

#1 Take Two: Wednesday's game at Cornerstone marks the second time this season the Gray Wolves have faced the number one team in NAIA Division II, and the school has been different in each contest.  The Gray Wolves battled #1 Saint Francis (Ind.) on Nov. 8, suffering a 96-66 loss.  Overall this will be the fifth time Lourdes has played the nation's top team, but the Gray Wolves are still looking for their first victory.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes enters the week averaging 13.5 turnovers per contest, a mark that has dropped considerably since Christmas.  The Gray Wolves have committed 13 or fewer turnovers in seven of its last eight games, including just 10 and six respectively against Concordia (Mich.) and Indiana Tech last weekend.  The six miscues match a season low, which also occurred against Siena Heights on Jan. 11.

Lights Out Shooting Against Concordia: The Gray Wolves started 12-of-13 from the floor on the way to shooting 62.5% from the field last Wednesday against Concordia (Mich.).  For the game Lourdes connected at a 59.3% clip, a high water mark for the Gray Wolves in 2016-2017.

Dishing the Rock: Najeeb Johnson handed out a career-high six assists for the Gray Wolves last Wednesday in the win over Concordia (Mich.).  The senior guard's output was the second highest for Lourdes this season (Kris Little, 8, at Goshen).  Johnson leads the team with 39 helpers on the year.

Among Nation's Leaders: As a team, Lourdes is allowing 74.74 points per game, a mark that ranks 41st nationally among all NAIA Division II teams.  Individually, Desmond Frazier is 50th in the country registering 1.61 steals per game.

This and That: The victory over Concordia (Mich.) was the first this season for the Gray Wolves on a Wednesday and also in a game played at night ... Malik Thurman was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor at Indiana Tech ... Anthony Swanigan had 12 rebounds at Indiana Tech, one off of his career high ... Lourdes will have played nine games against NAIA top-25 teams this season following this upcoming weekend.
