Head Coach Josh Gibson: In his second season on the Lourdes bench
Josh Gibson has an 8-22 (.267) record. Overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Gibson has a 69-80 (.463) record in his sixth season. He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Governors State will be meeting for the first time ever in men's basketball on Friday evening. The Gray Wolves are 1-0 all-time against Judson, having met the Eagles on Nov. 7, 2014 in Adrian, Mich. as part of the Maple City Classic. Lourdes earned a 62-45 victory over Judson in that inaugural meeting, which also took place on a neutral floor.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the season on Sunday with a 106-51 exhibition loss at NCAA Division I foe Western Michigan.Â
Malik Thurman,
Darriontae Stewart, and
Vic McEwen all led Lourdes with seven points each, but the Gray Wolves fell victim to 57.8% shooting by the Broncos and committed 34 turnovers. In Monday's regular season opener, Lourdes jumped out to a 32-point halftime lead and defeated Great Lakes Christian 87-50 at home. Thurman led the Gray Wolves with 19 points while
Kadeim Jones added 15 more. Â
Scouting Governors State: The Jaguars split a pair of games to open the season, hosting the Jaguar Tipoff Classic last weekend. Governors State fell to Goshen before rebounding to defeat Graceland 75-66. Robbie Brooks leads four players averaging in double figures, scoring 22.5 points per game while Jalen Miller adds 15.0 points per night. David Anderson is tallying a double-double, scoring 11.5 points and grabbing 10.0 rebounds per contest.
Scouting Judson: The Eagles have won two straight games after a season-opening loss at Indiana-Northwest after defeating Lincoln Christian at home 95-63 on Monday night. Taylor Boley leads five players averaging in double figures after scoring 16.3 points per game.  Rashad Grant adds 15.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per night while Brayden Royse adds 14.3 points per contest. Judson faces tournament host Grace on Friday evening before facing Lourdes on Saturday morning.
A High Scoring Opener: The 87 points scored by the Gray Wolves against Great Lakes Christian represent the most ever by a Lourdes team in a season opener, surpassing the 86 posted in the 2013-2014 opener at Kuyper. The 87 points were also the most scored by a Gray Wolf team since Dec. 8, 2015 in a 90-57 victory over Akron Wayne.
Getting to the Free Throw Line (and Connecting): Lourdes managed to draw 28 fouls from the Crusaders in Monday's season opener, and in the process shot 41 free throws. The Gray Wolves connected on 29 of the 41 attempts, shooting at a 70.7% clip, much higher than last year's 57.7% shooting mark for the year.
A Balanced Effort: The Gray Wolves played 13 players against Great Lakes Christian, with each one seeing at least eight minutes of action, and not one player playing more than 24 minutes. In addition, all 13 players found the scoring column, with seven scoring six or more points.
Lots of Debuts: Lourdes had eight players make their team debut, seven of whom were also making their collegiate debuts, in the win over Great Lakes Christian.Â

McRay White all stepped onto a college court for the first time in a regular season contest.
A Career High for Thurman: Malik Thurman poured in a career-high 19 points in just 19 minutes of action for the Gray Wolves against Great Lakes Christian. He made 5-of-6 shots from the floor, including the only two three-pointers he attempted, in the win. The lone senior on the team scored 18 points against Bethel (Ind.) on Nov. 5 of last season for his previous best. Â
A Near Double-Double: Clif Snow nearly posted a double-double in his collegiate debut. The freshman scored eight points while pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds against the Crusaders. Ten of his boards came in the first half.
Lourdes Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just ahead of Lawrence Tech and just behind Concordia (Mich.) in the league balloting. Cornerstone was the unanimous pick to win the WHAC in 2017-2018, and is the preseason #1 team in the nation in NAIA Division II.
This and That: By playing in the Lancers Tipoff Classic this weekend, Lourdes will have played in at least one "in season" tournament or classic every season except 2015-2016 ... The Gray Wolves registered 11 steals in the season opener while forcing 19 Great Lakes Christian turnovers ...
