Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes will play its final three games of the 2017 calendar year over the next week, looking to climb back to the .500 mark on the season. The Gray Wolves head to Rochester (Mich.) on Thursday evening for their final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game before the new year before traveling to Grace Bible on Saturday afternoon. Lourdes closes out games before Christmas with a visit from Wright State-Lake on Tuesday.
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her second season on the Lourdes bench
Summer Quesenberry has a 12-29 (.293) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 65-97 (.401) record in her fifth season. She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Rochester (Mich.) holds a 2-1 series advantage dating back to Jan. 23, 2012. The two schools have not met since Oct. 30, 2014, an 87-77 Gray Wolf victory at Tam-o-Shanter. Rochester won their only previous home game in the series, 50-45, on Dec. 19, 2012. Lourdes and Grace Bible will be meeting on the hardwood for the first time ever on Saturday. Lourdes is 1-0 all-time against Wright State-Lake after defeating the Lakers 86-53 back on Nov. 7 of this season in Celina, Ohio. This will be Wright State-Lake's first trip to the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes earned its first victory in program history against Cornerstone on Wednesday evening, defeating the Golden Eagles 78-74 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.Â
Sydney Miller scored 22 points off the bench, making seven three-pointers, while
Mirandia Green added 16 points. On Saturday, 11th-ranked Indiana Tech limited Lourdes to just 22.8% shooting and defeated the Gray Wolves 81-36 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Miller paced Lourdes with 16 points in the loss.
Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as Rochester suffered a 73-69 overtime setback at home against Northwestern Ohio. Maddy Valko leads the Warriors averaging 15.2 points per game this season while Rio Dudgeon has added 14.3 points per outing. Devan Valko gives Rochester three double figure scorers, adding 12.0 points per contest for a team averaging 75.5 points per game while limiting the opposition to just 62.5 points per night.
Scouting Grace Bible: The Tigers enter the week having dropped four straight games after suffering a 104-57 setback to Olivet last Saturday. Grace Bible hosts Cornerstone on Friday evening before entertaining Lourdes on Saturday. Miranda Carlson leads four Tigers averaging in double figures, scoring 16.6 points per game while grabbing a team-high 6.7 rebounds per night. McKenzie McCord adds 13.1 points per outing while Jewel Ro has scored 11.2 points per night. As a team, Grace Bible is averaging 10.1 points per game while surrendering 70.9 points per contest.
Scouting Wright State-Lake: The Lakers enter the week having dropped two of their last three after suffering an 80-69 overtime loss to Warren Wilson on Sunday. Wright State-Lake plays an exhibition game at Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday and at Indiana Tech on Sunday before traveling to Lourdes. Nicole Fot leads the Lakers averaging 17.2 points per game while Onyx Lopez adds 10.7 points per night. As a team Wright State-Lake is scoring 51.6 points per game while yielding 69.0 points per contest.
In 2017: Lourdes enters the final three games of 2017 looking to improve upon its 7-18 record during the calendar year. Â
A Stranger to Tight Games: With Lourdes' four-point victory over Cornerstone last Wednesday, it marked just the third time in the last two seasons the Gray Wolves played a game which was decided by five points or less. The Gray Wolves had won their previous close game, 81-78, against Northwestern Ohio on Feb. 8 after falling by three points to 24th-ranked Milligan on Nov. 12, 2016.
From Long Range: Sydney Miller has made a team-high 37 three-point field goals through her first 11 contests this season. The junior drained seven triples against Cornerstone, the most by a Gray Wolf since
Lauren Tilden made eight at Marygrove on Nov. 25, 2014.
Among the Nation's Best: Sydney Miller is tallying 3.36 three-pointers per contest, a mark that ranks ninth nationally while her 37 total three-point field goals are 13th best.
Christiana Jefferson ranks 15th among all NAIA Division II players averaging 5.00 assists per game. The Gray Wolf junior also ranks 29th in the country with a 2.63 assist-to-turnover ratio. Â
Team National Rankings: As a team Lourdes ranks 10th nationally grabbing 16.27 offensive rebounds per game while the team's 9.00 three-pointers per contest are 15th best in the country. The Gray Wolves are also 32nd in three-point field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 28.1% shooting from long range.
This and That: Christiana Jefferson had seven assists against Cornerstone, her fifth game this season with six or more helpers ...
Sydney Miller has scored in double figures in four straight games and six of her last seven overall ... 11 players have started at least two games this season for Lourdes ... the Gray Wolves are 4-1 all-time in overtime contests, but has not played in one since Dec. 7, 2016.
