Lourdes Returns to WHAC Play Facing Cornestone and Indiana Tech

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball:  After snapping a three-game losing streak on Sunday, Lourdes returns home on Wednesday evening to entertain Cornerstone in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.  The Gray Wolves return to the road on Saturday, beginning a three-game trip with a visit to 11th-ranked Indiana Tech.

Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Summer Quesenberry has a 11-28 (.282) record with the Gray Wolves.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 64-96 (.400) record in her fifth season.  She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone is 12-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Dec. 10, 2011.  Last season the Golden Eagles defeated the Gray Wolves 81-75 in overtime in the first meeting ever between the two schools inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Cornerstone then defeated Lourdes 80-50 in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Indiana Tech holds an 11-1 series edge versus Lourdes dating back to Jan. 7, 2012.  Last year the Warriors scored a 90-61 win at the Ebeid Rec Center before downing the Gray Wolves 88-61 in Fort Wayne, Ind.  Indiana Tech holds a 5-1 edge all-time in games played in Fort Wayne.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes headed into the fourth quarter with Madonna tied, but the Crusaders scored the first nine points of the final period to pull away and earn a 68-61 victory on Wednesday in Livonia, Mich.  Tatyana Reynolds led Lourdes with 19 points while Christiana Jefferson added 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.  On Sunday, the Gray Wolves overcame a one-point deficit at halftime, shooting nearly 59% from the floor and defeated Miami-Middletown 91-73 in a neutral site game played in Orrville, Ohio.  Sydney Miller led Lourdes with 17 points off the bench while Reynolds added 14 more in a reserve role.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have won three of their last four, and five of their last seven games overall after upsetting 11th-ranked Indiana Tech 71-64 at home on Saturday.  Jesse Sheridan leads Cornerstone averaging 19.5 points per game while Sydney Muller adds 10.7 points per night.  Cass Vredevoogd is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 7.2 boards per contest.  As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 74.4 points per game and shooting 45.% from the floor.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling 71-64 on the road at Cornerstone.  Indiana Tech travels to Aquinas on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes to open a four-game homestand.  Haley Cook leads the Warriors averaging 17.8 points per game while Keanna Gary adds 15.6 points and a team-high 10.9 rebounds per contest.  Indiana Tech has four players scoring in double figures while averaging 81.1 points per game, and is shooting 45.8% from the floor as a team.

Production Off the Bench: Lourdes matched a season-high 52 points off the bench on Sunday in the win against Miami-Middletown.  The Gray Wolves' reserves also scored 52 points in a win at Wright State-Lake on Nov. 7.  Lourdes has received 20 or more points from its bench in seven of its nine games this year, including each of the last three contests.

Beasley Registers Double-Double: LaTyrah Beasley notched her first double-double as a Gray Wolf on Sunday against Miami-Middletown, scoring 13 points while pulling down 12 rebounds.  The sophomore's double-double was the third this season by a Gray Wolf following Mirandia Green (Nov. 7, 17 pts, 10 rebs) and Christiana Jefferson (Nov. 18, 16 pts, 10 rebs).

Schedule Updates: The Gray Wolves have added yet another game to their schedule.  On Jan. 14, Lourdes will travel to Olivet for a non-conference contest.  In addition, Lourdes' home game against Wright State-Lake has been moved from Dec. 22 to Dec. 19.  The Gray Wolves' two scheduled games against Akron Wayne, one on the road on Dec. 19 and another at home on Dec. 30 have both been cancelled.  

Among the Nation's Best: Christiana Jefferson ranks 14th among all NAIA Division II players averaging 5.13 assists per game.  The Gray Wolf junior also ranks 30th in the country with a 2.73 assist-to-turnover ratio.  Sara Semler ranks 31st in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.71.  Sydney Miller is tallying 2.89 three-pointers per contest, a mark that ranks 26th nationally while Tatyana Reynolds' 2.75 triples per contest are 35th best.  

Team National Rankings: As a team Lourdes ranks ninth nationally grabbing 16.78 offensive rebounds per game while the team's 9.00 three-pointers per contest are 18th best in the country.  The Gray Wolves are also 42nd in three-point field goal percentage defense (.290) and 44th in three-point field goal percentage (.332) in addition to ranking 45th in turnover margin at +1.43 per game.

Lourdes Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn, and just behind Northwestern Ohio.  Indiana Tech was chosen as the preseason favorite after last year's champion, Davenport, left the NAIA for NCAA Division II.

This and That: Lourdes has had 12 different starters thus far this season with only Sara Semler starting all nine contests ... the Gray Wolves are forcing 20.1 turnovers per game from the opposition.
