Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The final two games of the 2016-2017 season will take place on the road for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves head to Michigan for a pair of contests this week.  Lourdes will battle Madonna on Wednesday night before concluding the campaign on Saturday evening with a game at Siena Heights.

Head Coach Josh Gibson: In his first season on the Lourdes bench Josh Gibson has a 6-21 (.222) record.  Overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Gibson has a 66-77 (.462) record in his fifth season.  He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Madonna took the series lead 8-7 dating back to Nov. 6, 2010 with a 79-78 overtime victory over the Gray Wolves at the Ebeid Rec Center on Nov. 30.  The Crusaders have now won three straight in the series but Lourdes holds a 4-3 edge in games played in Livonia, Mich.  Lourdes holds an 8-5 edge over Siena Heights dating back to Nov. 12, 2011.  The Gray Wolves have dropped three straight to the Saints though after falling 69-61 at the Ebeid Rec Center on Jan. 11.  The series is tied 3-3 in Adrian, Mich.

Earlier This Season: It took overtime on Nov. 30 for Madonna to squeak out a 79-78 victory over the Gray Wolves at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Both teams shot nearly 50% from the floor and Desmond Frazier led Lourdes with 27 points off of the bench while Levert Bristol added 24 points.  Andrew Myers paced Madonna with 17 points.  Siena Heights held Lourdes to just 25% shooting in the opening half on Jan. 11 and defeated the Gray Wolves 69-61.  Bristol led Lourdes with 17 points while Anthony Swanigan added 16.  Chris Pearl scored 18 points for the Saints.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Northwestern Ohio at home 71-67 on Wednesday night.  Najeeb Johnson led the Gray Wolves with 22 points as Lourdes shot 49% from the floor on the night.  On Saturday Lourdes pulled away from Lawrence Tech over the final 10 minutes to score a 69-53 victory over the Blue Devils.  Anthony Swanigan led the Gray Wolves with 18 points.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have dropped five straight games following a 79-71 setback at home on Saturday afternoon against Michigan-Dearborn.  Austin Johnson leads the way for Madonna averaging 15.6 points per game, one of four Crusaders in double figures.  Chris Dierker adds 14.6 points per night while grabbing a team-high 9.5 rebounds per game, a mark that is 15th best in NAIA Division II.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints had their two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 94-78 loss at Marygrove.  Siena Heights hosts Davenport on Wednesday before entertaining Lourdes.  Jerrell Martin leads the Saints averaging 13.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while Christopher Pearl adds 12.8 points per night.  As a team Siena Heights is allowing just 70.25 points per outing, 11th best in the nation.

It's Been Awhile: Lourdes has notched back-to-back victories for the first time this season after downing Northwestern Ohio and Lawrence Tech last week.  In fact, the Gray Wolves had not won two straight games since Dec. 5 and 8, 2015 against Lawrence Tech and Akron Wayne.

A First Time for Everything: The victory over Northwestern Ohio last Wednesday marked the first time this season the Gray Wolves rallied from a halftime deficit to earn the win.  Lourdes entered the game 0-15 on the year when behind after the opening 20 minutes.

Down to the Wire: The Lourdes scoring race in terms of points per game is a dead heat heading into the final two games.  Najeeb Johnson leads the overall race in total points with 373 to Anthony Swanigan's 193 points, but Swanigan missed the first 13 games of the year.  Thus the duo enter the week averaging 13.8 points per game each.  Technically Johnson holds a slight edge (13.814 to 13.786).  In addition, Desmond Frazier holds a two-point lead for the season on Levert Bristol (269-267).  Frazier is averaging 10.0 points per night and Bristol is at 9.9.  If Bristol moves up one-tenth of a point and Frazier stays at 10, Lourdes would finish with four players averaging double figures.

Looking to Better Last Year's WHAC Record: Heading into the final two games of the season, Lourdes looks to pick up one more victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play to better last year's conference mark.  Lourdes won five games last season as well.

One Point Shy: Lourdes nearly put five players in double figures on Saturday against Lawrence Tech, despite scoring just 69 points.  Kyle Stergis was won point shy of 10 for the night, trying to join Levert Bristol (10), Desmond Frazier (11), Najeeb Johnson (12), and Anthony Swanigan (18) in double figures.

Among Nation's Leaders: As a team, Lourdes is allowing 74.59 points per game, a mark that ranks 35th nationally among all NAIA Division II teams.    The Gray Wolves are also 48th in the country tallying 6.93 steals per night.  Individually, Desmond Frazier is 49th in the country registering 42 steals.

This and That: Anthony Swanigan needs 18 points for 400 in his Lourdes career ... just four players (Najeeb Johnson, Desmond Frazier, Levert Bristol, and Malik Thurman) have appeared in all 27 games ... Daniel Stein will finish the season with the most games played of anyone on the active roster, entering the weekend with 53.
