Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes rings in 2018 looking to extend its two-game winning streak with a pair of home Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests this week. The Gray Wolves entertain Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday evening before hosting 22nd-ranked Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon.
On the Air: Wednesday's game against Northwestern Ohio will be broadcast live on BCSN as part of Buckeye Broadband. BCSN will also re-air the game on Thursday at noon and Friday at 5 p.m. The game will also air on BCSN2 on Thursday morning at 1:30 a.m. and Friday morning at 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Â
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her second season on the Lourdes bench
Summer Quesenberry has a 14-30 (.318) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 67-98 (.406) record in her fifth season. She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio holds a 10-2 series advantage dating back to Jan. 18, 2012, but Lourdes has won two of the last three meetings between the two schools. Last year, the Racers scored a 71-59 victory in Lima, Ohio before the Gray Wolves rebounded with an 81-78 triumph inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Lawrence Tech is 7-3 all-time against Lourdes in a series which dates back to Nov. 17, 2012. The Blue Devils have won four straight meetings between the two schools. Last year Lawrence Tech swept the season's series, winning 82-60 in Southfield, Mich. an 77-63 in the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week (or Two Weeks Ago): Lourdes went into the holiday break on a high note after defeating Wright State-Lake 89-59 on Dec. 19 inside the Ebeid Rec Center. The Gray Wolves erupted for 45 points in the third quarter to break the game open.Â
Tatyana Reynolds led Lourdes with 26 points while
LaTyrah Beasley (17 points, 13 rebounds) and
Riley Raburn (11 points, 13 boards) each had double-doubles off the bench.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers enter play on Wednesday having dropped back-to-back contests following a 68-57 setback at home against Rio Grande on Dec. 20. Kierra Billingsley leads Northwestern Ohio averaging 15.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. Emily Paton has added 14.5 points per contest while pulling down 6.3 boards per game. As a team the Racers are shooting 39.2% from the floor and averaging 64.8 points per night while allowing 69.6 points per outing.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils enter the week having won three straight games following a 78-31 victory at home against Earlham last Saturday (Dec. 30). Lawrence Tech hosts 10th-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Nicole Buckingham leads the Blue Devils averaging 16.6 points per game while Hayley Walkowski adds 14.2 points and a team-leading 6.1 rebounds per contest. Lawrence Tech is shooting 39.6% from the floor this season and averaging 70.5 points per contest while limiting the opposition to just 55.2 points per game.
Matching Last Year's Win Total: With the victory over Wright State-Lake on Dec. 19, the Gray Wolves notched their seventh victory of the season, matching the team's total from the 2016-2017 season. The current 7-7 record marks the latest Lourdes has ever been at the .500 mark in a season, and the Gray Wolves are two victories shy of matching the school record for wins in a season. Lourdes won nine games during the 2012-2013 campaign.
Doubling Up the Effort: Lourdes players had recorded a total of three double-doubles this season through the first 13 games of the season before a pair of Gray Wolves accomplished the feat against Wright State-Lake.Â
LaTyrah Beasley registered her second double-double of the year with 17 points and 13 rebounds while
Riley Raburn recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 13 boards against the Lakers.
Reynolds Scores Career High: Tatyana Reynolds poured in 26 points in the win over Wright State-Lake, a new collegiate career high for the senior. Reynolds had previously scored 22 points for West Virginia State last season against Urbana. Her effort was the second highest out put for a Gray Wolf this season, behind
Sydney Miller's 31 points at Grace Bible on Dec. 16.
Among the Nation's Best: Sydney Miller is tallying 3.79 three-pointers per contest, a mark that ranks fourth nationally while her 53 total three-point field goals are fifth best.
Christiana Jefferson ranks 17th among all NAIA Division II players with a 2.63 assist-to-turnover ratio and her 4.55 helpers per night are 18th best in the country.Â
Tatyana Reynolds is 39th in the nation making 2.62 triples per contest while
Sara Semler ranks 44th with a 2.00 assist-to-turnover ratio. Â
Team National Rankings: As a team Lourdes ranks sixth nationally grabbing 17.36 offensive rebounds per game while the team's 9.50 three-pointers per contest are 12th best in the country. The Gray Wolves are also 18th in three-point field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 27.6% shooting from long range.
