Women's Basketball to Face Cornerstone and Indiana Tech

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball:  Lourdes returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this week for a pair of contests.  The Gray Wolves wrap up a three-game road trip on Wednesday evening with a visit to Cornerstone before coming home to the Ebeid Rec Center on Saturday afternoon to host top-10 foe Indian Tech.
 
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her second season on the Lourdes bench Summer Quesenberry has a 15-35 (.300) record with the Gray Wolves.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 68-103 (.398) record in her fifth season.  She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone leads the all-time series against Lourdes 12-1 dating back to Dec. 10, 2011, but the Gray Wolves snapped their losing skid in the series earlier this season with their first win ever against the Golden Eagles, 78-74, on Dec. 6 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Cornerstone is 6-0 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Indiana Tech holds a 12-1 series edge against the Gray Wolves dating back to Jan. 7, 2012.  The Warriors won the first meeting of the season against Lourdes 81-36 in Fort Wayne, Ind.  Indiana Tech's only previous visit to the Ebeid Rec Center came last year, a 90-61 Warrior win.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Aquinas shot 50.7% from the floor on Wednesday (Jan. 17) on the way to an 88-59 victory over the Gray Wolves.  LaTyrah Beasley was the only Lourdes player to tally double figures, scoring 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds.  Lourdes bounced back on Saturday (Jan. 20) with an 85-57 non-conference win at Wilberforce.  Sydney Miller poured in 24 points while Tatyana Reynolds added 15 in the win.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon in a 73-50 loss at ninth-ranked Indiana Tech.  Jesse Sheridan leads Cornerstone offensively averaging 18.7 points per game while Cass Vredevoogd adds 11.1 points and a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per contest.  The Golden Eagles are averaging 71.4 points per game and shooting 45.5% from the floor while defensively Cornerstone allows 66.9 points per night.
 
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won 12 straight games after downing Cornerstone 73-50 at home on Saturday.  Indiana Tech hosts Aquinas Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  Haley Cook leads four Warriors in double figures averaging 18.4 points per game while Keanna Gary adds 17.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per night.  Indiana Tech is shooting 46.7% from the field and scoring 81.7 points per game while yielding 53.6 points per night.

Hardy Tallies First Career Double-Double: Jami Hardy registered her first collegiate double-double on Saturday at Wilberforce.  Coming off the bench, the Gray Wolf rookie scored 11 points, matching her career-high, while pulling down 10 rebounds for her second career double-figure rebounding effort.  Hardy's double-double was the sixth by the Gray Wolves this year, with five different players recording at least one.

Dropping Dimes: Christiana Jefferson handed out seven assists on Saturday in the victory at Wilberforce, her fourth game of the season fourth game this season with at least seven helpers.  She ranks 21st nationally averaging 4.35 assists per contest, and is eighth in the country with a 2.85 assist-to-turnover ratio.  On the year she has distributed 74 assists while committing just 26 miscues.

Facing Ranked Foes: Lourdes is looking to snap a 33-game losing skid to NAIA Division II top-25 opponents when the Gray Wolves host Indiana Tech on Saturday.  Lourdes last win against a ranked opponent was Nov. 5, 2011, a 79-75 triumph at 18th-ranked Indiana-Northwest.  The Gray Wolves are 0-2 this season against ranked opponents, falling at #11 Indiana Tech and at home against #22 Lawrence Tech.

Crashing the Boards: LaTyrah Beasley grabbed nine rebounds in each of her two games last week against Aquinas and Wilberforce, and leads the Gray Wolves pulling down 6.4 caroms per contest on the year.  Beasley now has four games this season with nine or more boards.

Another 20-Point Effort for Miller: Sydney Miller has led Lourdes in scoring throughout the season, and enters play this week averaging 14.7 points per game this season.  She scored 24 points on Saturday at Wilberforce, her fourth game this season scoring 20 or more points.

Among the Nation's Best from Long Range: Sydney Miller is tallying 3.35 three-pointers per contest, a mark that ranks ninth nationally. Sara Semler is connecting at a 45.8% clip from long range, the 15th best three-point shooting percentage in the country.  Tatyana Reynolds averages 2.77 triples per contest, the 31st best mark nationally.

Lourdes in the National Rankings: As a team Lourdes ranks seventh nationally grabbing 15.95 offensive rebounds per game while the team's 9.15 three-pointers per contest are 14th best in the country.  Defensively, the Gray Wolves are limiting the opposition to just 32.9% shooting from three-point range, 46th best in the nation.

This and That: All 12 Gray Wolves that dressed on Saturday at Wilberforce found the scoring column ... Sydney Miller made six triples against Wilberforce, her third game this year with at least that many three-pointers ...  Tierra Thomas has at least one blocked shot in six of her last seven games, and leads Lourdes with 15 total rejections this year.
