The Lourdes men's soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to nationally-ranked Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon at Racer Field.
"I'm proud of our team effort today," said head coach Barry Spitzer following the contest. "We fought extremely hard against an excellent team."
The 23rd-ranked Racers (9-2-2 overall, 6-0 WHAC) spread the wealth offensively as four different athletes tallied a goal. Felipe Lupion got UNOH on the board in the 19th minute of play, allowing UNOH to hold a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
The Racers scored their first goal of the second half in the 53rd minute before adding three insurance goals to seal the 4-0 victory.
Freshman Ali Chokr (Bint Jbail, Lebanon/Fontainebleau (La.)) recorded seven saves in the goal for Lourdes. His 52 saves are now the second-best mark in school history in a single season. Chokr also has the second most career saves at Lourdes.
The Gray Wolves were outshot by a 27-0 count and fell in the corner kick battle 12-1.
Lourdes (2-8-1 overall, 1-4-1 WHAC) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in the second contest of a double header with the women's soccer team and hosts Cornerstone at 3 p.m. to celebrate Homecoming.
