Head Coach John Kenger: Lourdes welcomes first-year head coach
John Kenger to guide the Gray Wolf bench this season. Kenger owns an 0-0 (.000) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 39-54 (.419) record in three seasons. Â He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series between the two schools by a 1-0 tally. The Gray Wolves and Tigers met for the first time on Dec. 16, 2017 where Lourdes picked up a convincing 78-44 victory.
Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves finished the 2017-2018 season 10-18 overall and 4-16 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, finishing tied for ninth in the WHAC standings. Â
Tatyana Reynolds was named Second Team All-WHAC last season while
Samantha Enck and
Sara Pribonic were tabbed Academic All-WHAC honorees.
Scouting Great Christian: The Tigers also tip-off their 2018-19 campaign on Tuesday afternoon when the meet Lourdes. Like Lourdes, Grace Christian is under new leadership as C.B. Long begins his first season at the helm of the women's basketball program. The Tigers finished the 2017-18 season 11-16 overall and 5-5 in the National Christian College Athletic Association. Grace Christian welcomes back seven athletes from last season's roster, including two of its top three scorers as Miranda Carlson led the team with 16.4 points per contest and Megan George was third on the team with 12.8 points per game. Carlson and George also ranked in the top-three in rebounds per game a season ago. The Tigers will look for new faces to take over on the perimeter, losing its top two assist and steal leaders from a season ago.Â
Lourdes Tabbed 10th in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves have been selected to finish in 10th place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for the 2018-2019 season in the preseason voting done by the league's head coaches. The team finished tied for ninth in the WHAC standings last season. Indiana Tech was voted first in the preseason coaches poll.
Lourdes in Season and Road Openers: Lourdes begins its eighth season as a program and will take to the road to open a season for the first time in program history. The Gray Wolves own a 4-3 record all-time in season openers after picking up a 79-63 victory over Great Lakes Christian to open the 2017-18 season. Lourdes is also 4-3 all-time when playing in its first contest away from friendly confines.Â
Lots of Familiar Faces: Lourdes will begin the season with a number of familiar faces this season as 14 athletes are set to make their return to the hardwood for Lourdes. The Gray Wolves have added four newcomers to the roster, including three transfers.Â
Top Returners: The Gray Wolves lost their lone senior and leading scorer from last season, as
Tatyana Reynolds led the team with 14.0 points per contest.
Sydney Miller and
LaTyrah Beasley return this season after ranking second (12.6 ppg) and third (10.6 ppg), respectively on the team last season. Miller scored a team-high 353 points last season for Lourdes. Beasley brings back a presence under the bucket for the Gray Wolves as she led the team with 7.3 rebounds per game, including a team-high 69 offensive rebounds.
Christiana Jefferson also returns this season after dishing out a team-best 110 assists last season and recording a team-high 34 steals.
Mirandia Green, the team's fourth leading scorer from a season ago is set to make her return following a season-ending knee injury which sidelined her for much of the 2017-18 season.

Among the WHAC Leaders Last Year: Christiana Jefferson ranked third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference last season with 4.4 assists per contest last season.
Sydney Miller ranked sixth in the conference last season with 80 made three point field goals and ranked third in the conference with 2.86 three point fields goals made per contest.
LaTyrah Beasley's 7.3 rebounds per contest a season ago ranked sixth in the conference. Her four double-doubles last season was good for the fourth-best mark in the league last season.Â
Local Faces: Of the 18 athletes on this years squad, nine athletes hail from the Toledo and surrounding Toledo area.
