Lourdes Travels to Siena Heights, Hosts Aquinas in WHAC Action This Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The Gray Wolves continue play in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference this week as they travel to Siena Heights on Wednesday evening. Lourdes returns home Saturday to host WHAC foe Aquinas at the Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
Head Coach John Kenger: First-year head coach John Kenger will guide the Gray Wolf bench this season. Kenger owns a 5-5 (.500) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 44-59 (.427) record in four seasons.  He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is looking for its first victory in the all-time series against both Siena Heights and Aquinas. Lourdes is 0-14 all-time against the two foes, with each of the first contests between the schools beginning in the 2011-2012 season.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened last week with a tough 71-40 loss against No. 7 Indiana Tech at the Ebeid Recreation Center to wrap up its three-game homestand on Wednesday evening. The Gray Wolves got back in the win column with an impressive 68-53 victory on the road over Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon to wrap up its week.

Scouting Siena Heights: Siena Heights enters Wednesday evening's contest riding a six-game win streak. The Saints were dubbed the SHU Thanksgiving  Tournament champions with victories over Wright State-Lake and Saint Xavier. Through its first 10 games this season, Alyssa Larson leads the offense, netting 12.4 points per outing while Peyton Banks also averages double-figures for the Saints at 11.4 points per game. Larson and Banks have been efficient on the floor, as Larson leads the WHAC shooting .529 from the field and Banks leads the conference shooting at a .881 clip from the free throw line. Sharmaine Wills averages a team-leading 7.2 rebound per contest for Siena Heights. 

Scouting Aquinas: Aquinas enters the week after back-to-back victories over  Doane and Madonna. The Saints have won three of their last four matchups entering the week. Three Saints average double figures, led by Bri Spica's 12.5 points per outing. Hannah Brefeld and Carley Andrews average 12.2 and 10.6 points per game, respectively. Defensively, Andrews leads the conference with 28 steals and is second in the WHAC in steals per contest.  
Getting Back On Track: Following all but one of Lourdes' five losses this season, the Gray Wolves have been able to pick up victories. Lourdes owns a 4-1 record following a loss this season. The Gray Wolves are still looking for back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Hitting The Century Mark: Sydney Miller needed just two three-point field goals entering the contest at Cornerstone to net her 100th career three-pointer. The senior was on fire from long range, going 4-for-5 while leading the team with 12 points as she eclipsed the century mark.

Atop The WHAC: Christiana Jefferson has been atop the WHAC in assists per contest throughout the season and continues to lead the league with 5.00 helpers per game. The senior point guard has handed out 50 assists this season and ranks second in the WHAC in total assists. Jefferson is also tied for 12th nationally among NAIA Division II athletes in assists per contest.

Scoring At Will: Through 10 games this season, the Gray Wolf offense has outscored its opposition in total points in each quarter. The third quarter has proven to be the Gray Wolves strongest quarter, outscoring their opponents by a 202-162 margin. 

A Spark Off The Bench: In its victory over Cornerstone, the Gray Wolf bench chipped in 29 points to help spark the second half comeback. Mirandia Green led the way with nine points, while Ramiah Henry and LaTyrah Beasley each added eight points.

Shuffling The Starting Lineup: Sydney Miller and Sara Semler have started all 10 games for Lourdes this season. Seven other athletes have starting experience for the Gray Wolves, while eight players have seen action in all 10 games.

Controlling The Boards: Lourdes has outrebounded its opponents by a 441-355 margin this season. Jami Hardy leads the charge, averaging 5.7 rebounds per contest while Keyvona Davis has grabbed 5.2 rebounds per contest in a reserve role this season.

This and That: Lourdes is looking to win its second consecutive contest for the first time this season ... The Gray Wolves are a perfect 2-0 on the road in conference action ... Lourdes has had six different leading scorers in 10 games ... Sydney Miller has led the team in scoring in four contests this season.
