Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The 2017-2018 season comes to a close this week for Lourdes University, as the Gray Wolves play their final two games. Lourdes takes to the road for the final time on Wednesday, heading to Northwestern Ohio, before hosting Rochester (Mich.) Saturday afternoon on Senior Day for the Gray Wolves.
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her second season on the Lourdes bench
Summer Quesenberry has a 16-40 (.286) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 69-108 (.390) record in her fifth season. She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio leads the all-time series against Lourdes 11-2 dating back to Jan. 18, 2012. The Racers won the first meeting of the season between the two schools, 85-58, inside the Ebeid Rec Center on Jan. 3. UNOH holds a 5-1 series advantage in games played in Lima, Ohio. Rochester (Mich.) is 3-1 against Lourdes in the all-time series which began Jan. 23, 2012. The Warriors won the first meeting of the year between the two teams, 85-51, on Dec. 14 in Rochester, Mich. This will be the Warriors first visit to the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead on Wednesday, and defeated Madonna at home 72-56.
LaTyrah Beasley led the Gray Wolves with 24 points and 14 rebounds while
Tatyana Reynolds added 12 points. On Saturday, 19th-ranked Lawrence Tech opened up a 12-point lead in the second quarter on the way to an 81-59 victory in Southfield, Mich.
Tiera Thomas led Lourdes with 15 points while Reynolds added 14 more.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have lost nine consecutive games following a 91-55 setback at seventh-ranked Indiana Tech on Saturday. Emily Patton leads UNOH averaging 14.9 points per game while Kierra Billingsley has added 13.2 points and a team-leading 7.3 rebounds per outing. The Racers are shooting 38.1% from the floor as a team while scoring 62.6 points per night. UNOH is allowing 71.5 points per game.
Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the final week of the regular season having won two straight after a 61-47 win at home over Cornerstone on Saturday. Rochester faces Madonna on Wednesday before playing Lourdes. Maddy Valko leads the Warriors averaging 14.2 points per game while Rio Dudgeon and Devan Valko add 11.0 points each. Rochester is shooting 41.2% from the floor and averaging 69.3 points per game while allowing 63.0 points.
Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor seniors
Tatyana Reynolds and
Sara Pribonic prior to Saturday's season finale against Rochester. Reynolds transferred to Lourdes prior to this season and has averaged 13.9 points per game with the Gray Wolves. Pribonic played two seasons with the Gray Wolves before suffering a career-ending injury. She has spent this season as a student assistant for Lourdes.
Looking for First 10-Win Season: With the victory against Madonna last Wednesday, the Gray Wolves have matched the 2012-2013 team for victories in a season with nine. Lourdes is looking for a win in its final two games to set the school record outright, and reach double figures in the win column for the first time in program history.
Beasley Erupts Against Madonna: LaTyrah Beasley registered her fifth double-double of the season for the Gray Wolves last Wednesday against Madonna. The sophomore scored a career-high 24 points while grabbing a career-best 14 rebounds in the Lourdes victory. Beasley ranks third on the team averaging 9.5 points per game while grabbing a team-best 7.1 rebounds per night.
Doing the Little Things: Christiana Jefferson has contributed in numerous ways for the Gray Wolves this season, outside of her 6.5 points per contest. The junior transfer leads the team with 94 assists (4.1 per game) and 31 steals (1.3 per game) while ranking second on the team with 108 rebounds (4.7 per contest).
Defending the Perimeter: Lourdes has limited its opponents to just 30.3% from three-point range this season, and the opponents are making just 4.6 triples per contest. Gray Wolf opponents have made more than seven three-pointers in a game just once since Dec. 14, and in three games total throughout the season. Lourdes, on the other hand, is averaging 8.5 triples per night.
In the National Rankings: Christiana Jefferson ranks third among all NAIA Division II players with a 3.24 assist-to-turnover ratio this season. Her 4.1 assists per night rank 30th nationally.
Sydney Miller is 20th in the country making 2.92 three-pointers per game while
Tatyana Reynolds is 24th in the same category, draining 2.87 triples per night.
Sara Semler is 31st in the nation with a 2.05 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Lourdes Among National Leaders: As a team Lourdes ranks 10th nationally grabbing 15.58 offensive rebounds per game while the team's 8.54 three-pointers per contest are 17th best in the country. The Gray Wolves are pulling down 40.69 total rebounds per outing, a mark that ranks 37th in NAIA Division II.
This and That: Lourdes scored 50 of its 72 points in the paint against Madonna ... 11 different players have started three or more games on the year ...
Sydney Miller and
Sara Semler are the only Gray Wolves to appear in all 26 contests to date ... Lourdes is 7-0 when holding the opposition below 60 points this season ... the Gray Wolves are 0-11 when failing to score 60 points themselves on the year.
