Osbaldo Senderos (Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville H.S.) scored the first goal of his Lourdes career early in the second half on Tuesday evening, leading the Gray Wolves to a 1-0 victory over Indiana East in the team's season opener at Centerville High School in Centerville, Ind.

With the match scoreless at halftime, freshman Andrew DeBrosse (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe H.S.) ran onto a ball that was played through the midfield and beat his defender down the right side of the penalty area.  The rookie played the ball back into the box where Senderos, a redshirt-sophomore transfer playing in his first game at Lourdes, collected the ball and found the back of the net just 2:13 into the second half.

The goal was the lone tally of the contest, as Lourdes remained unbeaten all-time in season openers, improving to 3-0-1 over the first four seasons.

"I thought we started off slow and looked a little nervous," head coach Barry Spitzer said afterwards.  "We picked things up as the match went along.  I'm really proud of the guys.  We had lots of guys step up and contribute, and rotated a lot of young guys in and out.

In all, 14 players made their Gray Wolf debut on the evening, including eight in the starting lineup.

Lourdes outshot Indiana East 13-12 for the match, but the Red Wolves had a 6-5 edge on goal.  Farouk Amoo (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood H.S.) accounted for nearly half of the Gray Wolves shot attempts, finishing with six, two of which were on frame.

Garrett Baxley (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood H.S.) made the start for the Gray Wolves in goal, making three first half stops while Ali Chokr (Bint Jbail, Lebanon/Fontainebleau [La.] H.S.) made three second half saves, including one with under two minutes to play, to secure the win.  Aaron Gibson went the distance in goal for Indiana East (1-1), making four stops.

Both teams earned six corner kick opportunities in the match, with the Red Wolves tallying all six in the second half, including four in the final four minutes as the hosts looked to even the match.

Lourdes (1-0) will have eight days off before returning to the pitch on Sept. 5 for the team's home opener.  The Gray Wolves will entertain Bethel (Ind.) at Wildcat Stadium beginning at 7:30 p.m.
