Lourdes Travels to Wright State-Lake for Final Non-Conference Slate, Takes On UM-Dearborn This Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes hits the road for two contests this week. The Gray Wolves will step outside of WHAC play for the final time this season as they travel to Wright State-Lake on Wednesday evening. Lourdes will end the week on the road at Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Head Coach John Kenger: First-year head coach John Kenger will guide the Gray Wolf bench this season. Kenger owns a 8-13 (.381) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 47-67 (.412) record in four seasons.  He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes owns a 3-0 record all-time against the Lakers, dating back to the inaugural meeting at Wright State-Lake on Nov. 7, 2017. Lourdes picked up a convincing 101-47 victory over the Lakers earlier this season. Lourdes and UM-Dearborn will also meet for the second time this season and for the 16th time in program history on Saturday. The Wolverines took an 8-7 lead in the all-time series earlier this year when it edged Lourdes 61-49 inside the Ebeid Recreation Center.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell 55-48 in a low scoring affair on the road at Rochester (Mich.) to begin last week. After dropping their third straight contest, the Gray Wolves bounced back with a big Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory over Cornerstone inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. Lourdes held off the Golden Eagle attack to post a 65-55 victory.

Scouting Wright State-Lake: Wright State-Lake is still looking for its first victory this season when it entertains Lourdes inside the Auglaize-Mercer County YMCA on Wednesday. Through 14 games this season the Laker offense is led by Kenadee Dixon's 11.6 points per game, while Mikayla Stump is tallying 10.3 points per outing for an offense averaging 41.3 points per contest. Dixon also paces the team  grabbing 7.2 rebounds per contest. Kelsie Hunt ranks second on the team in rebounding, cleaning 7.0 rebounds per contest from the glass. Defensively, Dixon has 26 steals to lead the Lakers and has also dished out a team-best 16 assists this season. The Lakers boast a very young roster, featuring six freshman, two sophomores and a junior.

Scouting UM-Dearborn: The Wolverines will look to win their third straight contest on Wednesday against WHAC-foe Siena Heights before entertaining Lourdes on Saturday afternoon. The 20th-ranked Wolverines are looking for their second victory over the Gray Wolves this weekend. Through 22 games, three athletes average double-figures to lead UMD offensively. Sade Lemons leads the way, scoring 13.5 points per game, while Jeorgia Jones and Ro'Zhane Wells average 10.6 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Cydney Williams leads the team grabbing 6.7 rebounds per contest. Williams has proven to be a force defensively for the Wolverines as she leads the team and is tied for first in the WHAC with 1.5 blocks per contest.

Race For The WHAC Tournament: Following their victory over Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon, the Gray Wolves own a 1.5 game lead over Concordia for the eighth and final seed for the 2019 WHAC Tournament. Lourdes is looking to punch its ticket to the tournament for the first time in program history. Of their seven remaining WHAC games, three games will feature matchups with teams in the bottom five of the WHAC standings. 

Keeping Pace In The WHAC: Despite missing multiple games with an injury, Christiana Jefferson currently leads the team and is tied for third in the WHAC, handing out 3.77 assists per contest. The senior is on pace to lead the team in assists and assists per contest for the second straight season. Her assist to turnover ratio of 2.95 is also among the top in the league, good for second in the conference. Jefferson ranks second in the league only to teammate Samantha Enck, who leads the conference with a 3.75 assist to turnover ratio.

Scoring At Will: Despite scoring in double-figures only once during the teams first 14 games, Ramiah Henry has scored in double-figures in five of Lourdes' last six contests. The senior has come off the bench in four of her five double-figure scoring games, giving Lourdes' second unit a boost. 

Sweeping The Competition: For the first time in the program's eight seasons, Lourdes swept Cornerstone in the regular season series after picking up a 65-55 victory on Saturday. Lourdes will look to sweep the regular season series against Wright State-Lake for the second consecutive season on Wednesday.

Keeping It Close: Four of the last five games for Lourdes have been decided by 10 points or less. The Gray Wolves own a 2-2 record in those four games that were decided by 10 points or less.

This and That: LaTyrah Beasley went off for a season-high 25 points in the Gray Wolves 65-55 victory over Cornerstone ... Lourdes has had 12 different starting lineups in their 21 games this season  ... Lourdes has also had nine different leading scorers in 21 games.
