Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Coming off the most successful season in program history, Lourdes tips off the 2019-2020 season on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Shawnee State. This is the ninth season for women's basketball at Lourdes.
Head Coach John Kenger: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
John Kenger sports an 11-18 (.379) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â In his fifth season overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 50-72 (.409) career mark. Â He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Shawnee State will be meeting on the hardwood for the first time in women's basketball on Friday evening.
Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves finished the 2018-2019 season 11-18 overall and 6-14 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Â Lourdes set a school record for victories, and also tied for seventh place in the WHAC standings, the highest finish ever for a Gray Wolf program. Â Lourdes missed out on the WHAC tournament due to tiebreakers.
Scouting Shawnee State: The Bears when 25-10 overall and 9-5 in the Mid-South Conference in 2018-2019 before advancing to the second round of the NAIA Division I National Championship. Â Shawnee State returns six players from last year's squad, led by Bailey Cummins who averaged 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Â Sydney King added 9.0 points per night for the Bears. Â Shawnee State is ranked 11th in the NAIA Division I preseason poll.
Lourdes Tabbed 8th in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in eighth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Â Lourdes was picked just behind Concordia (Mich.) and just ahead of Northwestern Ohio in the balloting. Â Indiana Tech was picked as the unanimous preseason favorite.
Lots of New Faces: Lourdes has just seven players on its roster that have seen the floor for the Gray Wolves prior to this season. Â

Jami Hardy,
Riley Raburn, and
Sara Semler are the only players that have seen two years of action on this year's squad. Â Lourdes has added nine freshmen and seven transfers to the program for the upcoming year.
Lourdes in Season Openers: The Gray Wolves are 5-3 all-time in season openers after defeating Grace Christian on the road 87-64 to open the 2018-2019 season.  Lourdes has won two straight openers after downing Great Lakes Christian at home to begin the 2017-2018 season.  This is  only the second time Lourdes has opened the season on the road, with last season's game at Grace Christian being the other.
Among the NAIA Leaders: Lourdes finished 20th in NAIA Division II last season averaging 14.3 offensive rebounds per game. Â The Gray Wolves were also 37th in rebounding margin at +3.4 while their scoring defense of 64.3 points per game ranked 48th nationally. Â Individually among returnees,
Sara Semler was 23rd in the country with a 2.06 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Sister Act: Lourdes has two sets of sisters on the roster this season. Â
Jami Hardy and
Kali Hardy both have been with the Gray Wolf program for two years while
Courteney Hardy transferred to Lourdes after playing at Mount Saint Joseph last season. Â In addition,
Kaylesha Broyles and
Kailani Broyles have both joined the Gray Wolf program this year after transferring from Edison State Community College.
Lots of Local Faces: More than half of the Lourdes roster is from the Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan area this season. Â

Mare West are from Toledo while the three Hardy sisters and
Nadeen Jemaa hail from Perrysburg. Â
Megan Harvey is a Bowling Green, Ohio product while
Baylee Baldwin and
Mary Liedel are from just across the border in Ottawa Lake and Erie, Michigan respectively.
Redshirts: The Gray Wolves have five players that plan to sit out the 2019-2020 season as redshirts this year with the plan to return to the hardwood for the 2020-2021 campaign. Â

Bryce Blood all intend to use their redshirt seasons.
This and That: Lourdes is 64-171 all-time entering the program's ninth season ... the Gray Wolves are 30-92 in true road games through the first eight years ... Lourdes is 4-1 all-time in overtime contests ... the Gray Wolves finished last season winning two of their last three games.
