Lourdes (0-0, 0-0 WHAC)
Game #1: November 2, 7 p.m. EDT
vs. Harris-Stowe (1-0, 0-0 AMC)
Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes opens its 10th season of intercollegiate basketball on Saturday as part of Homecoming weekend on campus.  The Gray Wolves will entertain Harris-Stowe, a NAIA Division I foe inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his first season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 0-0 (.000) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: The Gray Wolves and Harris-Stowe are meeting for the first time ever on the hardwood.

Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves posted a 18-13 record overall and a 9-11 mark in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.  Lourdes finished in a tie for fifth place in the league, and fell to Indiana Tech in the quarterfinals of the WHAC tournament.  Clif Snow was named First Team All-WHAC while Kadeim Jones and Brett Lauf were both Second Team All-WHAC honorees.

Scouting Harris-Stowe: The Hornets opened their season on Saturday with a 73-69 victory at home against Trinity International.  Deshawn Munson led Harris-Stowe with 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists while shooting 14-of-15 from the floor.  Maurice Smith added 13 points while Jamarr Joseph and Duane Clark Jr. had 10 points each.  Clark also had nine rebounds.  Last season, the Hornets went 16-13 overall and 11-11 in the American Midwest Conference.

Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn and just behind Rochester (Mich.) in the league balloting.  Madonna is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2019-2020.

Lourdes in Season Openers: Lourdes is 6-3 all-time in season openers, having defeated East-West at home, 83-69, to open the 2018-2019 campaign.  This will mark the fourth straight season opener at home for the Gray Wolves, who had begun every previous season on the road prior to the opening of the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes has won five of its last six season openers overall.

Lourdes in Home Openers: Lourdes is 8-1 all-time in home openers, including 3-0 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.  The Gray Wolves went 5-1 in their former home, Tam-o-Shanter prior to the 2016-2017 season.  The only home opener Lourdes has lost came to top-ranked Cornerstone in 2015.

Among the NAIA Leaders: Brett Lauf finished 11th in NAIA Division II last season averaging 5.03 assists per game.  His 1.68 steals per contest were also 38th best nationally.  Clif Snow was 24th in the country with a 2.88 assist-to-turnover ratio while his 8.10 rebounds per night ranked him 44th nationally.

A New Face on the Bench: Dennis Hopson takes over the Gray Wolf program for the 2019-2020 season.  Hopson is in his first season as a collegiate head coach, but played in the NBA for five seasons after being chosen third overall in 1987 by the New Jersey Nets.

The Lone Senior: Bryce McComb is the lone senior on this year's squad.  In his two seasons with Lourdes after transferring from Heidelberg following his freshman year, McComb has averaged 5.5 points per game.  He has made 59 career appearances, including 15 starts.

Returning Leaders: Juniors Clif Snow and Brett Lauf are Lourdes top returnees in numerous statistical categories.  Snow averaged 17.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game as a sophomore while blocking 23 shots.  Lauf tallied 13.8 points, grabbed 4.4 rebounds, and handed out 5.0 helpers per contest in his first season as a Gray Wolf.

Lots of Local Faces: Lourdes has seven players on its roster from the Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan area this season.  Kenny Coleman, Little Anderson, and Julian Egbo are Toledo natives while Bryce McComb is from Swanton and Brett Lauf is from Napoleon.  Christian Wagenhauser is playing in his hometown of Sylvania while Nick Welch is from just across the state line in Temperance, Mich.

Team Captains: Lourdes will have four captains for the upcoming season.  Bryce McComb, Clif Snow, and Brett Lauf join newcomer Nick Welch, a transfer from Spring Arbor, in leading the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Lourdes is 129-146 all-time entering the program's 10th season ... the Gray Wolves are 22-20 all-time inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center ... the Gray Wolves have two NAIA National Championship appearances (2012 and 2013) ... Lourdes is 3-12 all-time in overtime contests after going 1-4 one season ago ... the Gray Wolves are 8-48 all-time against NAIA Division II top-25 opponents, dropping all four games against ranked foes last season ... the first win ever against a top-25 opponent came versus Indiana East on Dec. 18, 2010.
