Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes continues Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of league tilts. Â The Gray Wolves return home on Wednesday evening to host Madonna before heading to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday for a matinee at Aquinas.
On the Air: Wednesday's game against Madonna will be broadcast live on BCSN as part of Buckeye Broadband. Â The game will also re-air on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and Friday at 2 p.m. In addition, BCSN2 will show the game Thursday at 2 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. and Friday at 9:30 p.m.
Head Coach John Kenger: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
John Kenger sports an 12-24 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â In his fifth season overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 51-78(.395) career mark. Â He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Madonna leads the all-time series against Lourdes 12-4 dating back to Jan. 11, 2012. Â The Gray Wolves have won the last three meetings though, Last season, Lourdes was a 74-52 winner in Livonia, Mich. and a 90-66 victor in the Ebeid Rec Center. Â The Gray Wolves are 3-0 all-time against the Crusaders in the Ebeid Rec Center, but Madonna is 5-3 all-time in Lourdes home games. Â Aquinas holds a 16-0 edge against the Gray Wolves in a series that began Nov. 30, 2011. Â Last year, the Saints won 73-69 in the Ebeid Rec Center and 79-58 in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Aquinas holds a 8-0 series advantage.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes was within six of 15th-ranked Taylor at halftime on Tuesday, but the Trojans scored 30 straight points in the second half to tally an 86-40 victory. Â
Mirandia Green led the Gray Wolves with 14 points. Â On Saturday, fourth-ranked Indiana Tech downed Lourdes 74-51. Â
Logan Ingram came off the bench to pace the Gray Wolves with 14 points.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have dropped three of their last four games after falling 84-70 at Aquinas on Saturday. Â Hannah Reinhold leads the Crusaders averaging 19.2 points and 7.4 points per game while Sydney Brown has added 15.4 points per night. Â Naomi Davis is also averaging in double figures, scoring 11.6 points per game.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the week having won two straight after defeating Madonna 84-70. Â Aquinas travels to Huntington Tuesday and Michigan-Dearborn Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Â Daz'Sha Day leads Aquinas averaging 12.2 points per game while Diynasti Dowell adds 10.2 points per night. Â Camaryia Williams is pulling down a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game.
Ingram Breaks Out: Logan Ingram entered Saturday's game at having scored just 13 total points in her first six appearances. Â The freshman broke out against Indiana Tech making 4-of-5 from three point range, on her way to a team-leading 14 points. Â Ingram's total matched the most points scored by a Gray Wolf this season, equalling
Mirandia Green's total at Taylor four days prior.
From Long Range: Lourdes has made 46 three-point field goals already this season, the 45th highest total in NAIA Division II. Â
Baylee Baldwin leads the Gray Wolves from downtown with 11 triples, while
Sara Semler has the team's best percentage at 39.1% (9-of-23).
Running the Offense: Sara Semler has handled the basketball well for the Gray Wolves this season. Â The junior guard leads the team with 16 assists and has a positive assist-to-turnover ratio having committed just 14 miscues. Â Semler is shooting a team-leading 47.2% from the floor, including 39.1% from three-point range, and is a 70% free throw shooter. Â Semler also leads Lourdes in playing time, averaging 34.6 minutes per contest.
Getting to the Offensive Glass: Hunter Kershaw is leading Lourdes in offensive rebounding, pulling down 12 caroms on the offensive end of the floor this season. Â Her offensive rebound total accounts for nearly half of her overall 26 boards this season, one behind
Mirandia Green and
Erica Cary for the team lead in overall rebounding.
Second Quarter Adjustments: Despite being outscored 529-336 this season, Lourdes has shown the ability to battle back in the second quarter. Â The Gray Wolves outscored 15th-ranked Taylor 23-14 last Tuesday and fourth-ranked Indiana Tech 18-16 on Saturday. Â In four of the seven games, Lourdes has played even with the opposition in the second 10 minutes, and has been outscored for the year just 112-103 in the second stanza.
Sharing the Wealth: Through the first seven games of the season, Lourdes has had five different players lead the team in scoring. Â
Sara Semler and
Mirandia Green are the only Gray Wolves to lead the team twice. Â

Lourdes Tabbed 8th in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in eighth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Â Lourdes was picked just behind Concordia (Mich.) and just ahead of Northwestern Ohio in the balloting. Â Indiana Tech was picked as the unanimous preseason favorite.
This and That: All 16 players that have seen the floor for the Gray Wolves have scored this season and grabbed at least three rebounds ... Lourdes entered last week with four total blocked shots in the first five games before rejecting five shots between Taylor and Indiana Tech.
