Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After winning its season opener, Lourdes returns to the hardwood this week with a pair of games against NAIA Division II top-25 foes. Â The Gray Wolves host 24th-ranked Saint Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday evening before traveling to eighth-ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday night.
Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his first season on the Lourdes bench,
Dennis Hopson is 1-0 (1.000) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach. Â He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Saint Francis (Ind.) holds a 2-0 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Nov. 12, 2010. Â The Gray Wolves and Cougars have not met since Nov. 8, 2016 when Saint Francis downed Lourdes 96-66 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Â This will be the Cougars first appearance in Sylvania. Â Mount Vernon Nazarene holds a 3-1 all-time edge against Lourdes in a series that began Dec. 13, 2010. Â The Cougars won the last meeting between the two sides 74-57 on Nov. 11, 2016 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and are 3-0 all-time against Lourdes at Ariel Arena.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened the season on Saturday with a 99-81 victory over Harris-Stowe at home. Â
Clif Snow poured in 36 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Gray Wolves shot 57.1% from the floor on the night. Â
Kenny Coleman added 19 points while
McRay White and
Nick Welch both scored 11 points in the victory.
Scouting Saint Francis (Ind.): The Cougars began their season with a pair of victories last weekend at the Clarke University Classic, including a 74-54 win over Grand View on Saturday. Â Lance Dollison leads Saint Francis averaging 18.0 points per game while James Anderson and Connor Lautzenheiser have added 9.5 points per night. Â Anderson has also pulled down a team-high 6.0 rebounds per outing.
Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene: The Cougars remained unbeaten on the season with a 91-58 victory over Denison on Friday evening at home. Â Mount Vernon Nazarene travels to Indiana Tech on Tuesday before hosting Lourdes. Â Eric McLaughlin leads five Cougars averaging in double figures, tallying 20.5 points per game. Â Isaac White has added 16.5 points per contest while Jacob Paul and Austin Jones are scoring 15.0 points per night each. Â Alex Johnson is grabbing a team-high 8.5 rebounds per contest.
Facing Ranked Foes: Lourdes begins a stretch on Tuesday in which the Gray Wolves will be playing NAIA Division II top-25 opponents in five of their next seven games. Â Lourdes is 8-48 all-time against nationally-ranked opponents, and is looking to snap a 25-game losing streak against such foes. Â The Gray Wolves last downed a top-25 team on Feb. 18, 2015, when Lourdes defeated fourth-ranked Davenport 53-32. Â Last season the Gray Wolves went 0-4 against such teams, losing two of the games in double-overtime.
Quite a Start: Clif Snow had a solid season opener for the Gray Wolves against Harris-Stowe. Â The junior matched his career-high with 36 points while grabbing a game-high nine-rebounds and handing out three assists. Â Snow went 16-of-17 from the free throw line in addition to shooting 40% (4-of-10) from three-point range.
Strong Lourdes Debuts: Kenny Coleman and
Nick Welch both had solid debuts wearing the terra cotta and black. Â Coleman tallied 19 points, grabbed four boards, and had three assists in 35 minutes of action while Welch added 11 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Â Both transfers started their first game with the Gray Wolves.
Making Free Throws: As a team Lourdes connected at an 87.1% clip from the free throw line in the opener against Harris-Stowe, making 27-of-31 from the charity stripe. Â The Gray Wolves currently lead all of NAIA Division II in free throw shooting at this early stage of the season.
Gray Wolf Debuts: A total of nine players made their Lourdes debuts in the season opener against Harris-Stowe. Â
Kenny Coleman,
Little Anderson, and
Nick Welch all earned starting assignments. Â
Cam Schroeder saw his first action after sitting out last year as a redshirt while
Samer Jabbo stepped on the floor for the first time after returning to Lourdes after transferring away following his first year at the school. Â

Charles Swain all made their Gray Wolf debuts as well.
Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Â Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn and just behind Rochester (Mich.) in the league balloting. Â Madonna is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2019-2020.
Team Captains: Lourdes will have four captains for the upcoming season. Â
