Women's Hoops Set to Travel to Indiana Tech, Celebrate Senior Day Against Madonna in Final Week of Regular Season

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The Gray Wolves return to the road following a three-game homestand for their final regular season road tilt at No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening. Lourdes will wrap up the regular season with a home matchup against Madonna on Saturday afternoon as they celebrate Senior Day inside the Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
Head Coach John Kenger: First-year head coach John Kenger will guide the Gray Wolf bench this season. Kenger owns a 10-17 (.370) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 49-71 (.408) record in four seasons.  He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 1-14 all-time against Indiana Tech. Lourdes suffered a 71-40 setback against the Warriors on Nov. 28, 2018. The lone Gray Wolf victory in the series came on February 2, 2013, when the Gray Wolves tripped up Indiana Tech 72-62 on the road. Lourdes is 3-12 all-time against Madonna following a 74-52 victory over the Crusaders on November 17 on the road.  The Gray Wolves have won the last two matchups between the two schools.

Wrapping Up Last Week: After dropping a closely contested 68-64 decision against Concordia (Mich.), Lourdes responded with a 60-59 victory over Northwestern Ohio to keep its WHAC Tournament hopes alive. The Gray Wolves picked up the victory over UNOH by way of a game-winning jumper with 4.6 seconds remaining in the contest.

Scouting Indiana Tech: After rolling to 16 straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victories and what looked like an undefeated conference season, Indiana Tech has dropped two straight in the league. The Warriors responded with an 88-56 victory over Wilberforce after falling to Siena Heights and Aquinas on the road. Offensively, Kendall Knapke leads a trio of Warriors scoring in double-figures and ranks third in the WHAC, at 15.1 points per outing. DeAnn Kauffman ranks second on the team, and seventh in the WHAC, with 13.1 points per game, while Alexis Hill also averages double-figures with 12.6 points per matchup. Knapke currently leads the league from long distance, connecting on 3.11 three-pointers per contest. Rachel Hill leads the team and conference, handout out 4.4 helpers per game this season. Knapke also leads the team on the boards, pulling down 7.6 rebounds per contest. 

Scouting Madonna: Madonna will play its final two games of the season this week as it travels to Aquinas before making the trip to Sylvania on Saturday. With two conference games left on their schedule, the Crusaders have been eliminated from a conference tournament bid. Madonna enters the week having lost two straight following back-to-back victories over Concordia (Mich.) and Cornerstone. Sydney Brown leads to the team offensively, scoring at a 11.2 point per game clip, while Hannah Reinhold is second on the team with 10.7 points per outing. Cierra von Zittwitz currently leads the team on the glass, pulling down 5.6 rebounds per contest.

Thanks Seniors: The Gray Wolves will honor their four seniors on Saturday in a pregame ceremony prior to the matchup against Madonna. Christiana Jefferson, Samantha Enck, Ramiah Henry and Sydney Miller will play their final regular season contest inside the Ebeid Recreation Center. 

Keeping Their Hopes Alive: After falling to Concordia and falling a half-game out of the eighth and final spot in the upcoming WHAC Tournament, the Gray Wolves responded in a big way. Trailing the majority of the contest against UNOH, Lourdes made a late run capped by a game-winning jumper from Christiana Jefferson to prevail 60-59 over the Racers and remain a half-game behind Concordia (Mich.).

Keeping It Close: The last two contests for the Gray Wolves were decided by a combined five points. The Gray Wolves have had three other contests this season decided by five points or less.

Keeping Pace In The WHAC: Despite missing multiple games with an injury, Christiana Jefferson currently leads the team and is third in the WHAC, handing out 3.78 assists per contest. The senior is on pace to lead the team in assists and assists per contest for the second straight season. Jefferson also leads the league and ranks eighth nationally with an impressive 2.64 assist to turnover ratio. 

Breaking The Barrier: After suffering three straight losses where the Gray Wolves failed to score at least 50 points, Lourdes has found its footing offensively, scoring 62.2 points per game in its last two contests.

Getting Back On Track: After a string of four games that she didn't score in double figures, Sydney Miller has hit the double digit mark in the scoring column in four of the last six games for Lourdes. She currently leads the team with 9.0 points per game.

This and That: Lourdes has had 12 different starting lineups in their 27 games this season  ... Lourdes has also had nine different leading scorers in 27 games ... when leading at halftime, Lourdes owns an 8-2 record ... the Gray Wolves picked up just their second come-from-behind victory of the season when it defeated UNOH after trailing at the intermission.
