Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The 2019 women's lacrosse season begins this weekend for Lourdes University in Belleville, Ill. Â The Gray Wolves open their sixth season of intercollegiate lacrosse on Saturday afternoon with a neutral site contest against Missouri Valley before facing host Lindenwood-Belleville in a Sunday matinee.
Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Alyssa Shaver has an 8-7 (.533) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach. Â She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes has never previously met Missouri Valley or Lindenwood-Belleville on the field in women's lacrosse.
Wrapping Up Last Season: Lourdes finished the 2018 campaign with an 8-7 record overall and a 2-4 mark in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. Â The Gray Wolves finished in fifth place in the league standings. Â

Kiley Ketteman, Alyssa Lon,
Tiara Reed, and
Anna Zofchak all garnered Second Team All-WHAC accolades.
Scouting Missouri Valley: The Vikings finished the 2018 campaign with an 8-5 record overall and a 6-1 mark in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, falling in the tournament semifinals to Ottawa (Kan.). Â Missouri Valley returns just seven players from last year's squad. Â Payge Farewell led the Vikings with 33 goals and 38 total points while Jordan Anderson added 23 goals and 12 assists. Â Jacie Willison returns in goal for Missouri Valley after posting an 11.14 goals against average and a .402 save percentage in 2018.
Scouting Lindenwood-Belleville: The Lynx went 1-11 as an independent in 2018. Â Lindenwood-Belleville returns eight players from last year's squad. Â Sydnee Horneker is the team's top returning scorer, having tallied eight goals and 10 total points. Â Gabriella Campbell also recorded 10 points with seven goals. Â In goal, Cassidy Mundwiller played a majority of the minutes, posting a 16.27 goals against average and a .417 save percentage.
Lourdes in Season Openers: Lourdes is 2-3 all-time in season openers after defeating Cleary 22-10 on the road to open the 2018 season. Â The Gray Wolves' only other season-opening victory came in 2016, a 12-7 triumph at Pikeville. The only other opener the Gray Wolves played on a neutral site came in 2017, a 12-11 double-overtime loss to Columbia (S.C.) in Ave Maria, Fla.
An Experienced Roster: Lourdes has nine players returning that saw action for the Gray Wolves in 2018. Â
Brianna Budd,
Brandy Lowery, and
Anna Zofchak are the team's lone seniors. Â Lourdes added five true freshmen to its roster while
Lexi Hunt sat out last year as a redshirt.
New Look to the WHAC: The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has added three new members to its women's lacrosse lineup this season. Â Cleary has joined the conference as a full-time member while Rochester (Mich.) has added the sport for the first time. Â In addition, Bethel (Ind.) has joined the WHAC as an affiliate member. Â All 10 schools will play a nine-game league slate in 2019.
Top Returnees: Tiara Reed enters her junior season second in program history with 80 goals and 91 total points. Â Reed also ranks third with 11 all-time assists and is fourth with 85 ground balls. Â She is the top active player with 33 draw controls as well. Â
Ashley Hunt ranks fourth on the points list with 58 and is fifth all-time with 45 goals while ranking second with 13 assists. Â
Anna Zofchak is eighth on the career list with 56 ground balls.
A New Look in Goal: After
Kiley Ketteman patrolled the goalmouth for the Gray Wolves the last four seasons, Lourdes will have its first new goalie since 2015 this year. Â Freshman
Jacque Pappadakes will take over the goalkeeping duties for the Gray Wolves in 2019.
This and That: Anna Zofchak is sixth in program history with 47 games played while
Brianna Budd ranks eighth having appeared in 46 contests ... Zofchak and Budd rank fourth and fifth all-time in starts with 46 and 45 respectively ... 2018 marked the first season Lourdes opened a campaign with a 2-0 record ... the Gray Wolves are 2-4 all-time in neutral site games and 15-30 all-time on the road.
