Gray Wolves Ready for Indiana Tech in WHAC Tourney

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Postseason basketball arrives at Lourdes University for the first time since 2015 on Thursday evening.  The sixth-seeded Gray Wolves travel to third-seeded Indiana Tech in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.

Head Coach Josh Gibson: In his third season on the Lourdes bench Josh Gibson has a 35-53 (.398) record.  Overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Gibson has a 96-111 (.464) record in his seventh season.  He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Indiana Tech holds an 12-6 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that began Oct. 30, 2010.  The Warriors have won the last eight meetings between the two schools, including a season sweep this year in the regular season.  Indiana Tech posted a 79-76 triumph inside the Ebeid Rec Center earlier on Nov. 28 before downing the Gray Wolves in Fort Wayne, Ind. just one week ago on Feb. 13.  Indiana Tech is 6-3 against Lourdes all-time in Fort Wayne.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Indiana Tech jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead and shot better than 50% from the floor on the night as the Warriors defeated Lourdes 90-73 in Fort Wayne on Wednesday.  McRay White led the Gray Wolves with 16 points while Kadeim Jones added 15 points.  Brett Lauf chipped in 11 for Lourdes.  On Saturday, Lourdes closed out the regular season with a 100-86 setback at home against Madonna.  Clif Snow led the Gray Wolves with 19 points while Desmond Frazier tallied 17 more.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the tournament on a three-game winning streak after defeating Rochester (Mich.) 87-64 on the road Saturday afternoon.  Indiana Tech finished tied with Madonna for second place in the WHAC standings.  Dylan Phair leads the Warriors averaging 16.5 points per game while Logan Primerano has added 13.4 points per night.  Indiana Tech is averaging 80.1 points per game this season while allowing 73.6 points per night.

Back to the Postseason: Lourdes has qualified for the WHAC tournament for the first time since 2015 and the fifth time overall.  This is the third time the Gray Wolves have entered the postseason event as the sixth seed.  Lourdes was also the sixth seed in its last two appearances, falling in the quarterfinals during both the 2014 and 2015 tournaments.

All-Time in the WHAC Tournament: Lourdes has posted a 3-4 record all-time in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament play in its previous four appearances.  The Gray Wolves advanced to the championship game as the seventh seed in their first appearance in 2012, while also winning a game to advance to the semifinals as the third seed in 2013.

Second Most Wins Ever: Lourdes has posted 18th victories this season, the second most for a team in program history.  Only once have the Gray Wolves won more than 18 games in a season, the 2012-2013 campaign in which Lourdes finished the year 22-10.

High Scoring Games: Lourdes scored at least 86 points in four of its final five games of the regular season, and finished the year averaging 81.5 points per game.  The Gray Wolves eclipsed the 90-point mark seven times this season, and surpassed the century mark twice.

A Scoring Binge: Lourdes has had at least one player score 20 points in a game in 23 of the team's 28 contests this year, including each of the last 12 games.  In fact, in the last nine games, at least one Gray Wolf has tallied a minimum of 24 points.

Snow Tallies Eight Double-Doubles: Clif Snow registered eight double-doubles in 30 games for the Gray Wolves during the regular season, including three in WHAC play.  He has all but one of the team's double-doubles, with Christian Wagenhauser registering one back on Nov. 24 against Great Lakes Christian.

Four Averaging in Double Figures: Lourdes has four players scoring in double figures this season, led by Clif Snow's 18.0 points per game.  Kadeim Jones has added 17.0 points per night while Brett Lauf chips in 13.8 points per outing.  McRay White has jumped into double figures for the year as well, tallying 10.4 points per night.

Handing Out Helpers: Brett Lauf ranks 13th in NAIA Division II handing out 5.1 assists per game this season.  The sophomore has dished out at least seven helpers in eight different games, and has at least one assist in all 30 contests.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes ranks 14th in NAIA Division II as a team with a 1.38 assist-to-turnover ratio this season.  The Gray Wolves have averaged just 11.3 miscues per night.  Lourdes has committed single digit turnover totals in eight of its last night games.

Dominating the League Leaders: Clif Snow and Brett Lauf both rank among the top-five in the WHAC in several statistical categories.  Snow is fourth in scoring (18.0 ppg) and second in rebounding (8.2 rpg) while Lauf ranks third in assists (5.1 apg), second in steals (1.67 spg), and fourth in field goal percentage (.494). 

Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes ranks 25th nationally making 9.80 three-pointers per night.  The Gray Wolves rank 28th in free throw percentage (74.7%) and 42nd in field goal percentage (46.9%).  Clif Snow is 32nd individually with a 2.81 assist-to-turnover ratio and is 39th in rebounding (8.16 per game).  Brett Lauf is also 39th nationally with 1.67 steals per contest.

This and That: Lourdes has played in a school-record five overtime games this year (1-4) ... the Gray Wolves are 6-6 on the road this season ... Lourdes is 10-0 this year when holding opponents to 70 points or less.
